13 bovines rescued, smuggler arrested

SAMBA, Apr 21: Ghagwal police foiled a bovine smuggling bid by arresting a smuggler and rescuing 13 bovines from his possession.
“Acting on a specific input that bovine animals are being smuggled towards Srinagar, a police party of police station Ghagwal headed by Inspector Rajeev Kumar, SHO, police station Ghagwal, laid a naka at NHW Tapyal and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK08A-7767 to stop,” a police official said.
He said instead of stopping, the driver of the truck accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape but the alert naka party succeeded in apprehending the bovine smuggler namely Gurpreet Singh son of Amrik Singh, resident of Rajbagh (Kathua) and rescued 13 bovines which were being transported illegally in his truck.
“The vehicle was seized on the spot and the accused arrested”, the official said, adding that a case FIR No 41/2019 under Section 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act was registered in this connection at police station Ghagwal and investigation started.
The arrest and recovery was made by the police team under the supervision of Deepak Digra, Deputy SP Headquarters.
