SAMBA, Mar 21: The 12th martyrdom day of Shaurya Chakra Havaldar Rakesh Sharma was observed in his native village Dadui in district Samba today.
A programme was held in his native village at Dadui in district Samba and tributes were paid to Shaurya Chakra martyr Rakesh Sharma on his martyrdom Day. Sharma attained martyrdom in the year 2008 after taking on the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
On his 12th martyrdom day, floral tributes were paid at his memorial in his native village in which SSP Samba, Shakti Pathak was mainly present.
During the program, martyr’s father Ratna Chand, his mother Vimala Devi, wife Rajni Devi, children Diksha Bharti and son and relatives were also present. Paying tribute to him, SSP said that blessed are those parents who give birth to such children.
On this occasion, Ravindra Singh, general secretary of the Shaheed Sainik Parivar Parishad, said that it is the only family of the martyrs who knows what a great loss they have suffered but they resist all the pain for the sake of grater national cause.
He said after the martyrdom of Rakesh Sharma, only the family knows the odds which it has faced over these years.
General secretary, Ravindra Singh, press secretary, Bita Katal, Pathankot martyr, Makhan Singh’s father, Hans Raj, local Sarpanch, Bimala Devi, Sarpanch, Sunil Chaudhary, Girdhari Lal Chaudhary, Sandeep Sharma, former Sarpanch Durga Dass were also present.
