128 officials found absent

KISHTWAR, Oct 12: Coming down heavily on the culture of absenteeism and late coming, various teams constituted by Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana today conducted surprise inspection in Government offices across the district, during which 128 officials were found unauthorized absent from their duties and 9 offices were found closed.
Taking a strong note of the mass absenteeism, DC has ordered probe into the matter and issued the show cause notice to all the erring officials.
Meanwhile, DC directed District Treasury Officer not to withdraw the salaries of the absent employees till further orders. However, in respect of the offices found closed, District Officers concerned have been asked to fix the responsibility on erring officer and submit a report regarding the matter for further course of action.
In some offices, majority of the employees were shown as on leave, for which separate enquiry has been ordered and the concerned DDO has been asked to explain his position as to how he has granted leave to such a large number of employees on a given day, thereby impairing the functioning of the office.
Apart from officials found absent from duty and on leave, some of the employees have been shown as deputed on duty in official record, which is being examined and verified.
DC expressed unhappiness over the absence of the officials from duties and warned the District Officers concerned of stern action if they did not keep an eye on the day to day functioning of their departments.
DC directed the District Officers to take stock of their sections periodically and take errant officials to task. He also warned them of tough action if they were found to be lackadaisical in their approach.
However, the report from SDM Marwah was awaited and explanation has been sought from SDM Marwah for not submitting information in time.
