JAMMU, July 29: On the 31st day of 40 day long annual Shri Amarnath yatra 1,273 pilgrims paid obeisance to naturally formed ice lingam at holy cave situated at an altitude of 3880 meters in deep Himalayas in South Kashmir’s district of Anantnag.
According to an official spokesman so far 2,52,599 pilgrims have performed pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji since the yatra started from Jammu on June 28.
He said the majority of pilgrims out of them have reached to their home States while others are on way. The yatra is proceeding smoothly from both the tracks of Baltal and Chandanwari -Sheshnag, he added.
The spokesman said pilgrims stationed at Baltal and Nunwan base camps as well as the halting stations of Sheshnag and Chandanwari also left for their onwards sojourn early this morning.
The spokesman said 294 pilgrims left for twin base camps of Nunwan and Baltal from Bhagwati Nagar Jammu Yatri Niwas early this morning under tight security arrangements in a cavalcade of 11 vehicles. These pilgrims will leave for holy cave from the base camps tomorrow.
The 40 -day long holy Amarnath yatra will culminate on Shravan Purnima coinciding with Raksha Bandhan on August 7 when the holy mace of Lord Shiva reaches the cave shrine from Dashnami Akhara, Srinagar.
