JAMMU, July 11: Presiding Officer Fast Track Court, Sanjeev Gupta today awarded 12 years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 40,000 to four accused namely Jeet Raj, Raj Kumar, Suraj Parkash and Mohan Lal, who were facing trial for the last 10 years for committing gang rape with a minor girl.
The Court also directed accused Jeet Raj to pay Rs 40,000 and Raj Kumar, Suraj Parkash and Mohan Lal to pay Rs 25000 each to the prosecutrix to restore the loss of prestige and injury suffered by the prosecutrix.
According to the police case, on March 11, 2003 prosecutrix accompanied by her mother lodged a written report in the Police Station Bishnah with the allegations that on March 8, 2003 she was gang raped in an isolated place when she was returning to her home.
After hearing APP GS Charak for the State whereas Advocates Sabil Mirza and Ashwani Khajuria appearing for the accused persons, Presiding Officer Fast Track Court observed, “prosecution has proved its case beyond any reasonable doubt”.
Accordingly, the court awarded 12 years rigorous imprisonment to the accused.
