JAMMU, May 17: A 12-year-old girl today died of accidental hanging in Belicharana area of city outskirts.
“Krishma (12) daughter of Prem Singh, resident of Belicharana, along with other children was playing at her residence with a ‘dupatta’ (scarf) in her neck when her foot got slipped from the stairs, resulting into her accidental hanging with iron railing of the stairs”, a police official said.
The official said listening to the hue and cry of other children, the mother of the girl rushed to the site and in unconscious condition shifted her to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where doctors declared her as brought dead.
“After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased has been handed over to her legal heirs for last rites”, he said, adding, inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC have been initiated at concerned police station.
