12 vehicles seized for illegal mining

SRINAGAR, May 25: Police today seized 12 vehicles during a crackdown against illegal mining in south Kashmir’s Anantnag and Shopian districts.
A Police Spokesperson said that in Anantnag, Police seized one JCB and four tippers involved in illegal extraction and transportation of mining material at Donipawa. In another operation at Bondialgam Crossing, five dumpers involved in illegal transportation of minerals were seized during night patrolling, the Spokesperson added. FIR No. 157/2026 has been registered and investigation has been started in this regard.
In Shopian, the Spokesperson said that Police seized one JCB and one tractor from the Berthipora area during routine patrolling. The vehicles were allegedly being used for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without valid royalty documents, FIR No. 52/2026 has been registered at Police Station Keller and investigation has been taken up in this regard.
