12.5 kg poppy straw seized, accused arrested

UDHAMPUR, July 17: Udhampur Police today arrested a drug peddler and recovered 12.5 kg poppy straw from his possession.
Acting on specific information, a Police team led by SHO Sanjeev Gupta, intercepted a pedestrian at Shiv Nagar Udhampur and seized the poppy straw from his possession.
The accused was identified as Nazakat Ali Khan, son of Gulam Mohammed of Anantnag Srinagar.
In this connection, a case under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Udhampur.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police also arrested five gamblers, who were playing cards inside a bus, bearing registration number JK02BL-0193.
