11th NCEEITET concludes at GCET Jammu, highlights AI’s role in tourism development

JAMMU, Apr 28: The 11th National Conference and Exhibition on Emerging and Innovative Trends in Engineering Technology (NCEEITET) concluded today at Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Jammu, with a strong focus on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in tourism development in Jammu and Kashmir.
The two-day conference was organised in technical collaboration with IIT Kharagpur and witnessed participation of academicians, industry experts, policymakers and students from different parts of the country.
Additional Chief Secretary, Power Development Department, Jammu and Kashmir, Ashwani Kumar, was the chief guest at the valedictory function.
He said such conferences provide an important platform for innovation, research and cooperation among institutions and industry.
Appreciating the technology models and exhibits displayed by students, he said practical exposure and technological innovation are essential for achieving the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
Referring to the conference theme, he said AI and ML can play a major role in improving tourism planning, management and visitor experience in Jammu and Kashmir.
He added that Government departments increasingly need technical support to improve efficiency and institutions like GCET can contribute solutions in sectors such as power, tourism and infrastructure.
Managing Director, JKPDC, Rahul Yadav, who was the guest of honour, spoke on the growing use of modern technology in the power sector.
He encouraged students to focus on practical and solution-based engineering projects that can address real-life challenges.
Prof Raja Dutta and Prof Prabir Kumar Biswas from IIT Kharagpur stressed on the importance of adopting a multidisciplinary approach to link technology with social and economic needs.
They also praised the talent and enthusiasm of GCET students and assured continued support for future research initiatives.
The conference featured technical sessions, expert talks, panel discussions, paper presentations and a technology exhibition.
Major organisations including NHPC, CVPPL, NTPC, PFC, NIELIT, BSNL, Schneider Electric, Patel Engineering Ltd, JKPDC, Alba Power, J&K Bank and JaKeDA displayed innovative technologies and interacted with students.
Principal/Director GCET, Dr Sameru Sharma, said the knowledge shared and professional connections developed during the conference would help participants in future research and innovation.
Event Coordinator Sheetal Gandotra presented the vote of thanks, followed by a cultural programme by students.
