JAMMU, Oct 15: Department of Pediatrics, Government Medical College Jammu organized the Divisional Rounds of 10th Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) Post Graduate and 29th IAP Undergraduate Quiz in Post Graduate Department of Pediatrics, SMGS Hospital.
Dr Rekha Harish Professor and Head Deptt of Paediatrics, who was also the Divisional coordinator for the post graduate quiz was the Chief Organiser of the event.
Dr Sanjeev Digra was Divisional Coordinator for Under graduates. Dr Ashu jamwal Associate Prof, Dr Sanjeev Digra Associate Prof and Dr Anuj Bhatti, Astt Prof were quiz masters.
Teams from IGMC Shimla, RPGMC Tanda, ASCOMS Jammu and GMC Jammu participated in the Quizzes.
Prof and Head, Deptt. of Paediatrics and Dr Rekha Harish while speaking on the occasion apprised the audience regarding the aim and format of the quiz to create awareness and sensitize the medical students regarding the normal growth and development, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of various childhood illnesses which is imperative to reduce infant mortality in any region. She further informed that this academic event is held at college level in various medical colleges of the country. Winners of college round proceed for divisional rounds, winners of which participate in the zonal rounds of the five zones of the country followed subsequently by the final National Round during the National Annual Conference.
She congratulated the winners of Post graduate quiz Dr Sukhdev Rathour and Dr Gourav Sharma & undergraduate Quiz Dr Neha Sharma and Dr Ravi Saraswat both from IGMC Shimla.
Prof Dr G S Saini, Dr Subhash Singh Slathia, HoD Paediatrics, ASCOMS Dr Ravinder were the judges for the quiz.
Dr Sunil Dutt Sharma, Dr Mohd. Razaq, Dr. Arun Gandotra and Dr. Koushal Khajuria in addition to large number of undergraduate and post graduate students attended the occasion.
Dr Ajay Chowdhary was the scorer, Dr Sudesh was the time keeper and Dr Alok Raina compered the show.
The runner up participants were Dr Ifra Rasool and Dr Harkirat Kour from GMC Jammu, Dr. Nikhil Verma and Dr. Saugat Ghosh from RPGMC Tanda for Post Graduate event and Roshni and Rinku Thakur from GMC Jammu, Shubranshu and Amit Anand from ASCOMS Jammu for Undergraduate quiz.
