1053 pilgrims perform darshan at holy cave

JAMMU, Aug 13: About 1053 pilgrims paid obeisance to naturally formed Ice Lingam in holy cave of Lord Shiva situated at an altitude of 3880 meters in Lidder Valley in South Kashmir district of Anantag district.
With this the total number of pilgrims paying obeisance in holy cave since the two-month long yatra started on July 1 has touched 3,45,570.
According to an official spokesman 229 pilgrims left from Nunwan-Pahalgam base camp for holy cave via traditional Chandanwari track. He said over 500 pilgrims left for holy cave via Baltal track.
Besides the pilgrims having a night stay at Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtarni also left for cave shrine early this morning.
He said the weather enroute to holy cave was partially cloudy while it was pleasant at Nunwan and Pahalgam.
Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 98 pilgrims left for holy cave from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas early this morning in a cavalcade of four vehicles under tight security arrangements. These pilgrims after reaching the twin base camps of Nunwan and Baltal will leave for holy cave early tomorrow morning.
