DLSA Jammu records highest disposal of cases

JAMMU, Sept 8: National Lok Adalats–4th in the series of 2018 were held under the aegis of NLSA across the State including both wings of the High Court today.
The Adalats were held under the patronage of Justice Gitta Mittal Chief Justice High Court of J&K, Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority and under the guidance of Justice Alok Aradhe, Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey Member National Legal Services Authority and Chairman High Court Legal Services Committee.
The proceedings commenced after formal inauguration by Justice Alok Ardhe in presence of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey. On the occasion, Akram Chaudhary Principal District Judge Srinagar, Abdul Rashid Malik, Director State Judicial Academy and Yash Pal Bourney, Member Secretary J&K SLSA were also present, besides other Senior Judicial Officers, members of bar and a large number of litigants.
A total of 14166 cases were taken up in the day long National Lok Adalats at various courts across the State, out of which 10528 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 17.83 crore approximately was awarded as compensation/settlement amount in cases of various descriptions.
Out of these cases, DLSA Jammu recorded the highest disposal of 2957 cases out of 3093 listed for settlement/disposal and DLSA Srinagar recorded 2nd highest disposal of 2386 cases out of 2649 cases to their credit.
SRINAGAR: A Lok Adalat was organised by District Legal Services Authority Srinagar under the chairmanship of Mohammad Akram Chowdhary Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar at District Court Complex Moominabad Srinagar.
The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Justice Alok Aradhe Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority in presence of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Member of National Legal Services Authority of India/Chairman of J&K High Court Legal Services Committee and Administrative Judge for District Srinagar.
On the occasion seven benches for taking different types of cases were constituted and these benches had taken up 2677 cases out of which 2381 cases were amicably settled on spot and total settlement amount of Rs 1,39,66,057 was realized.
The first bench was presided over by Principal District Judge Srinagar Mohammad Akram Chowdhary and assisted by Presiding Officer Motor Accident Claims Tribunal Srinagar Subash Chander Gupta, which had taken up 30 cases out of which 17 cases were amicably settled and an amount of Rs. 1,04,37,000 was granted as compensation.
The second bench was presided over by President District Consumer Protection Forum Srinagar Mohammad Ashraf Malik, who was assisted by Advocate Member Farah Deeba. This bench had taken up 112 cases out of which 21 cases were amicably settled and compensation to the tune of Rs 8,38,105 was granted.
The third bench was constituted to taken up all the civil and criminal matters referred by District and Sessions Courts. The bench was presided over by Additional District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar Parvaiz Hussain Kachroo, who was assisted by City Munsiff Srinagar Tabasum. This bench had taken up 24 cases, out of which 2 cases were amicably settled and compensation to the tune of Rs 6,00,000 was granted.
The fourth bench dealt with bank recovery cases which was presided over by 2nd Additional District Judge Srinagar Tahir Khursheed Raina and assisted by Forest Magistrate, Srinagar Mohammad Rafiq Chak. This bench had taken up as many as 108 cases pre and post litigation cases out of which 20 cases were amicably settled and settlement amount to the tune of Rs 18,60,312 was realized.
The fifth bench was constituted to taken up all civil and criminal matters referred by different Magisterial Courts. The bench was presided over by Municipal Magistrate Srinagar Yashpal Sharma, who was assisted by Special Mobile Magistrate Railways 13th TFC, Parvaiz Iqbal. This bench had taken up 105 cases, out of which 33 cases were amicably settled and fine of an amount of Rs 6000 was recovered.
The sixth bench was constituted to deal with the offences and violations under Motor Vehicles Act. The bench was presided over by Special Mobile Magistrate (Traffic) Srinagar, Gowhar Majeed Dalal, who was assisted by Additional Mobile Magistrate (Traffic) Srinagar, Mir Wajahat. This bench had taken up 2250 cases out of which 2250 cases were amicably settled and fine of an amount of Rs 2,17,190 was recovered.
The seventh bench was constituted to taken up all matters referred by Additional Special Mobile Magistrate (13th FC) Panthachowk Srinagar. The bench was presided over by Additional Special Mobile Magistrate (13th FC) Panthachowk Srinagar, Mehreen Mushtaq who was assisted by President Bar Association Panthachowk. This bench had taken up 48 cases, out of which 38 cases were amicably settled and fine of an amount of Rs 7450 was recovered.
Justice Alok Aradhe, Executive Chairman JK State Legal Services Authority (JKSLSA) in presence of Justice Ali Muhammad Magrey, Chairman J&K High Court Legal Services Committee inaugurated National Lok Adalat Sessions in ADR Centre, High Court Complex Srinagar.
Two benches were constituted at the High Court Srinagar wherein 210 cases were listed for the day including MACT cases, Matrimonial cases and service writs.
The first bench was headed by 4th Additional District and Sessions Judge, Kamlesh Pandita, while the second bench was headed by 3rd Additional District and Session Judge Srinagar, Mehmood Ahmad Chaudhary.
JAMMU: The Lok Adalat was organized by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at District Court Complex Janipur with nine benches taking up 3093 cases and deciding 2957 cases. A total amount of Rs 73214822 was awarded in different cases. Similar Lok Adalat benches were also constituted at Tehsil Headquarters at Akhnoor, Bishnah and RS Pura which were presided over by respective Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committees.
KATHUA: National Lok Adalat with three benches resolved criminal compoundable cases, MACT cases, bank cases and Hindu Marriage Act cases. A Compensation of Rs 49,09,000 was awarded in the MACT cases, and a recovery of Rs 11,11,140 was also passed in favour of the banks. Compound money of Rs 40000 was realized on the spot. A total 348 cases were taken up of which 188 cases were disposed settled.
SAMBA: A National Lok Adalat was held in the District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of RK Wattal, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge Samba. Three benches were constituted in the Lok Adalat. The first bench was headed by RK Wattal, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge Samba and assisted by SK Khanmotra, Senior Advocate, while the second bench was headed by Deepak Sethi, Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee (CJM/Sub Judge) Samba and assisted by Jyoti Bhagat, Additional Munsiff Samba. The third bench comprised of Shabnam Sheikh, Munsiff Samba and Kamiya Singh Andotra, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Samba. A total of 53 cases were taken up out of which 14 cases were disposed off. In MACT, 3 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 1730000 was awarded as compensation and one electric case was disposed off and an amount of Rs 1355912 was awarded. 8 labour dispute cases were settled and amount of Rs 18400 was settled. 1 case under Sections 341, 323, 1 case of DV Act is compromised. 148 traffic challans were disposed off and fine of Rs 36700 was realized.
UDHAMPUR: The National Lok Adalat with 5 benches took up 711 cases pertaining to different nature, out of which 600 cases were settled. An amount of Rs 92,25,000 was awarded in MACT cases and Rs 2,40,000 was realized in bank cases while Rs 1,90,460 was imposed as a fine in criminal compoundable cases.
CHENANI: A National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Sumati Sharma, Munsiff JMIC Chenani in the court complex here. During the Lok Adalat, 5 criminal cases were disposed off and a total fine of Rs 3100 was realized. 3 matrimonial matters and one pre-litigation matter were also decided. Further, 31 traffic challan were also disposed off and a fine of Rs 14100 was realized on the spot from the defaulters.
RAMBAN: National Lok Adalat took up 408 cases and of which 227 cases were disposed of including 3 bank recovery cases, 7 electricity cases, 6 MACT cases and 38 criminal compoundable cases. A settlement of Rs 47.56 Lakh was awarded in the resolved cases. 7 matrimonial cases and 12 civil cases were also disposed off.
RAJOURI: A National Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of Shahzad Azeem, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge Rajouri. Four benches were constituted in the Lok Adalat. The first bench was headed by Shahzad Azeem, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge Rajouri and assisted by Rajinder Sapru, Additional District and Sessions Judge Rajouri, while the second bench was headed by Riaz ul-Haq Mirza, CJM Rajouri and assisted by Naushad Ahmed Khan, District Special Mobile Magistrate Rajouri. The third bench comprised of Tabraiz Ahmed Qazi, District Judicial Magistrate Rajouri and assisted by KM Bhat Advocate, while the fourth bench was headed by Tehsildar Rajouri and assisted by Junaid Hussain Choudhary Advocate. Similar benches were constituted at Tehsil Level, which was headed by presiding officers of the respective courts. A total of 550 cases were taken by out of which 317 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 5493780 was settled. 20 MACT cases were taken up out of which 18 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 5415000 was awarded as compensation.
POONCH: A National Lok Adalat was held in District Court Complex under the chairmanship of Zabair Ahmed Raza, Principal District and Sessions Judge. Two benches were constituted in the Lok Adalat. The first bench was presided over by Zabair Ahmad Raza Principal District and Sessions Judge Poonch and assisted by Mohammad Zaman from Bar Association Poonch, while the second bench was presided over by Mohammad Ashraf Khan CJM Poonch and assisted by Wajahat Kazmi District Mobile Magistrate (T) Poonch. At Surankote, the bench was presided over by Muzaffar Iqbal Khan Sub-Judge and assisted by Sarfraz Nawaz Qureshi Additional Mobile Magistrate Surankote and at Mendhar, the bench was presided over by Choudhary Riaz Ahmad Munsiff JMIC. A total of 745 cases were taken up out of which 257 cases were settled. In civil cases, an amount of Rs 600000 was settled, in MACT cases Rs 2525000 was awarded where as in pre-litigation cases Rs 995728 was recovered. In criminal cases, Rs 9250 was recovered as fine. 23 civil and 38 criminal cases were also decided.
REASI: District Legal Services Authority Reasi under the chairmanship of SR Gandhi, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi organized National Lok Adalat. Three benches were constituted in the Lok Adalat. The first bench was presided over by SR Gandhi District Judge Reasi and was assisted by VS Manhas, Sub Judge/CJM Reasi, while the second bench was presided over by Rimpi Rani, Munsiff Reasi and was assisted by KK Dubey Advocate and the third bench was presided over by Sandeep Gandotra Sub-Judge Katra and was assisted by Parveen Pandoh Munsiff, Katra. In the Lok Adalat, 459 cases of different nature were taken up and 194 cases were settled and settlement amount for Rs 2674850 was awarded.
BHADERWAH: The Lok Adalat comprising 4 benches took up 237 cases including MACT cases, bank matters, civil cases, labour disputes, civil and criminal cases. Around 51 cases were disposed of and an amount of Rs 707681 was settled in the MACT cases, bank recovery and other criminal compoundable cases.
ANANTNAG: National Lok Adalat was organized by the District Legal Services Authority Anantnag at District Court Complex here. Eight benches were constituted for holding of National Lok Adalat all over the district under the supervision of Principal District and Sessions Judge Syed Tawqeer Ahmad, who is also the Chairman District Legal Services Authority Anantnag. Out of 395 cases related to recovery suits, MACT, electricity cases, traffic challans, civil and matrimonial cases taken up, a total settlement amount of Rs 2086000 was awarded in favour of 264 amicably settled cases.
PULWAMA: National Lok Adalat was held at court premises of District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of Chairman District Legal Services Authority Pulwama. During Lok Adalat various cases pertaining to criminal compoundable offence, NI Act, cases under-section 138, bank recovery cases, MACT cases, matrimonial disputes, labor disputes etc were taken up for amicable settlement.
URI: The Lok Adalat was held in which a total of 275 cases of varied natures were taken among which 257 were settled on spot.
SHOPIAN: The National Lok Adalat was held in the premises of District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of Ashok Kumar Shavana Chairman District Legal Service Authority Shopian. During the proceedings ten benches were constituted for taking up cases of matrimonial act, land acquisition, criminal compoundable, electricity bills, bank recovery, etc. In the said National Lok Adalat 222 cases of different nature including pre-litigation were taken up, out of which 138 cases were settled by nediation and reconciliation. An amount of Rs 68950 has been recovered as fine and same has been deposited in Government Treasury. However, Rs 3474000 were realized from defaulters in bank recovery cases. Besides that, an amount of Rs 1538000 was also realized in different cases, which was paid to the beneficiaries.
KULGAM: The National Lok Adalat was organized by the Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kulgam who is also Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kulgam at District Court Complex here. As many as 393 cases of various nature were taken up, out of which 191 cases including criminal, matrimonial and MACT were settled amicably during the national Lok Adalat an amount of Rs 328000 was passed in favour of victims in MACT cases and an amount of Rs 688675 was realized in different cases of electricity bills, water bills etc, taken up in Lok Adalat. An amount of Rs 1016675 was imposed as fine in criminal RPC challan and traffic challan. Four benches were constituted two at head quarter and each one at Qazigund and DH Pora. All the benches were headed by judicial officers, advocates and staff members.
BANDIPORA: The National Lok Adalat of four benches was organized by District Legal Services Authority Bandipora under the chairmanship of District and Sessions Judge Bandipora Sayed Sarfaraz Hussain shah. The first bench was presided over by Chairman District Legal Services Authority Bandipora Syed Sarfaraz Hussain Shah. Second Bench was presided over by Chief judicial Magistrate/Sub Judge Bandipora, Raja Mohammad Tasleem. Third Bench was presided over by Chairman TLSC, Munsiff/JMIC Bandipora Iqbal Ahmad Aakhoon, & another one Bench was also constituted at Munsiff Court Sumbal presided over Chairman TLSC, (Munsiff/JMIC Sumbal) Manzoor Hussain Chowdhary. During the Lok Adalat, 175 cases of civil and criminal nature including matrimonial cases were taken up in the National Lok Adalat and out of which 108 cases were settled amicably and an amount Rs 1,35,4000 was realized as fine.
KARGIL: The National Lok Adalat was held in District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of SK Bhagat Chairman District Legal Service Authority Kargil. During the proceedings two benches were constituted for taking up cases of matrimonial act, land acquisition, criminal compoundable, electricity bills, bank recovery, etc. The first bench was presided over by Chairman District Legal Services Authority Kargil SK Bhagat and second bench was presided over by Chief Judicial Magistrate/Sub Judge Kargil, Spalzes Angmo. In the said National Lok Adalat, 82 cases of different nature were taken up, out of which 62 cases has been settled by mediation and reconciliation.
