9 deaths in J&K, one in Ladakh

JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Nov 12: Three persons died of COVID-19 in Jammu region today including two in Jammu district and one in Kishtwar while 226 tested positive, 93 in Jammu district alone, and 236 recovered from the virus. Today’s positive cases took Jammu region’s Corona tally beyond 40,000
In Kashmir a 103-year-old woman today became the oldest Coronavirus victim as six persons died in the Valley and 391 tested positive.
Among the positives of Jammu district, seven hailed from Akhnoor, six Bishnah, two each Marh and RS Pura and one each at Sohanjana and Dansal.
Seven persons tested positive for pathogen at Patta Bohri Chowk, six Main Stop Janipura, four Jewel Chowk, three Domana, two each at Mini Market Trikuta Nagar, Barnai and Raghunath Bazaar and one each at Nai Basti Satwari, Sari (Borh Drank), Poonch House Talab Tillo and Railway Station Chowk.
A 60-year-old man from RS Pura and 68-year-old from Marh in Jammu district, who were co-morbid and positive for the virus, died in Narayana Hospital Katra today. A 60-year-old man from Bhatwas Padder in Kishtwar district died of Coronavirus at home.
With three Corona fatalities today, Jammu region’s Corona toll has reached 527, the highest being 275 in Jammu district, 49 Doda, 48 Rajouri, 33 each Udhampur and Kathua, 25 Samba, 22 Poonch, 18 Ramban, 16 Kishtwar and eight in Reasi district.
Six deaths reported from Kashmir valley include an elderly woman belonging to Zazbugh Budgam who died at SKIMS Soura last night, five days after she was admitted to SKIMS hospital.
Besides her, the other victims from Valley included two residents of Baramulla while one each belonged to Srinagar, Ganderbal and Kupwara districts respectively.
A 56-year-old man from Machil Kupwara today died at SMHS hospital, a week after he was admitted there.
The victim from Srinagar was an 80-year-old man from Lal Bazar Srinagar who died at Skims Soura, 12 days after he was admitted there.
A 70-year-old man from Boniyar Uri died six days after he was admitted with bilateral community acquired pneumonia while victim from Ganderbal was a 75-year-old woman from Sonamarg Ganderbal who died three days after being admitted to the hospital.
With these deaths, the death toll in J&K has reached 1560
In Kashmir, 391 people today tested positive for COVID-19 taking the number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1,00,968.
Those who tested positive include 153 from Srinagar, 62 Baramulla, 43 Budgam, 18 Pulwama, 22 Kupwara, 34 Anantnag, 29 Bandipora, 22 Ganderbal, 6 Kulgam and 2 from Shopian.
With fresh cases, the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached 60,893 including 55,864 recoveries and 1,039 deaths
The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 5,578 including 3,990 from Kashmir division.
Among 226 Corona positive cases in Jammu region, 93 belonged to Jammu district, 79 of whom were locals and 14 travelers, 35 from Udhampur, 22 Kishtwar, 16 Kathua, 15 Doda, 13 Ramban, nine Rajouri, eight each Poonch and Samba and seven in Reasi district.
Of 236 persons who recovered from the virus today in Jammu region, 162 hailed from Jammu district followed by 19 Udhampur, 18 Kishtwar, 11 Kathua, nine Samba, six each Rajouri and Doda, three Ramban and two in Poonch district. No recoveries were today reported from Reasi district.
Jammu region now has 40075 Corona cases. Of them, 1588 are active positives while 37960 have recovered from the virus and there have been 527 casualties in the region.
Meanwhile, a 72-year-old man from Leh district died of COVID-19 today.
Ladakh reported 77 new Corona cases today including 73 in Leh and four in Kargil district.
With this, UT’s Corona tally has reached 7211. Among them, 971 were active positives while 6151 have recovered from the virus.
