10240 cases settled in National Lok Adalats

JAMMU, Oct 10: National Lok Adalat on Traffic, Petty matters and Municipal matters was held across the State.
The National Lok Adalats were held at District and Tehsil level under the patronage of Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar, Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Patron, Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority and under guidance of Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Judge High Court of J&K and Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority.
10240 cases were disposed off in the National Lok Adalats and an amount of Rs, 20,62,175 was realized as compound money.
A National Lok Adalat was organized in District Court Complex, Jammu under the chairmanship of Sanjay Gupta, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge). Three benches were constituted for the conducting National Lok Adalat. The first bench was headed by RS Jasrotia, Special Mobile Magistrate (Traffic) Jammu and Vinod Kumar, Special Electricity Magistrate, Jammu. A total of 548 cases of traffic challan and electricity related cases were taken up and all were settled and an amount of Rs 1,55,650 was recovered. The bench number 2 headed by Amit Kumar, Special Magistrate (P&T) Jammu and Naveen Jamwal, Additional Mobile Magistrate (Traffic), Jammu Jammu took up Traffic challan and other petty matters. A total of 1000 cases were taken up and out of which 347 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 99,545 was recovered. The bench number 3 headed by Mohammad Rafiq Chak, Special Municipal Magistrate Jammu and Anjum Ara, Speical Mobile Magistrate (13 FC), Jammu took up Municipal cases and other petty matters. A total of 354 cases were taken up out of which 179 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 52,250/- was recovered. National Lok Adalat was also held at Tehsil level in RS Pura, Bishnah and Akhnoor a total of 89 cases were taken up and all were settled. An amount of Rs 20,570 was recovered.
A National Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex Rajouri under the chairmanship of Inder Singh, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority. One bench was constituted, which was headed by Mehmood Ahmed Choudhary, Sub-Judge, CJM Rajouri and assisted by Sarfraz Ahmed, District Judicial Mobile Magistrate. Similar benches were also constituted in Nowshera, Sunderbani, Kalakote, Thannamandi. 885 cases were taken up, out of which 863 cases were disposed off. An amount of Rs 76,400 was settled in the Lok Adalat.
District Legal Services Authority Reasi under the chairmanship of KS Parihar, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Reasi organized National Lok Adalat for Traffic Challans, labour cases and other petty offences. A total of 430 cases were taken up and 335 were settled and an amount of Rs 83,180 was recovered as compoundable fine.
A National Lok Adalat was held in the Court Complex Nowshera under the chairmanship of Sandeep Kour, Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Nowshera and was assisted by Advocate Rattan Singh. A total of 258 traffic challan and 15 municipal challan were disposed off and an amount of Rs 16,200 was recovered as fine from the defaulters.
Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Kupwara SA Choudhary kick started the Lok Adalat campaign at court complex at Kupwara. A total of 400 cases were tabled for hearing in the courts for settlement amicably, out of which 259 cases of different nature were settled and an amount of Rs 27800 were realized as fine.
District Legal Services Authority organized National Lok Adalat in district court complex Baramulla and tehsil headquarters under the chairmanship of Tawqeer Ahmed, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Baramulla. 939 cases of various natures were taken up for the settlement in which 618 cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs 99200 was received as fine.
National Lok Adalat was held   under   the chairmanship of Mohammad Ashraf Malik, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Bandipora.  A total of 524 cases related to traffic, petty, municipal matters were taken up out of which 373 cases were settled amicably in the Lok Adalats. Compound amount of Rs 46700 was also realized during the National Lok Adalat.
National Lok Adalat was held in the District Court Complex, Poonch under the chairmanship of Tahir Khurshid Raina, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority. A total of 340 cases of different nature were settled and an amount of Rs 119470 was recovered as fine.
National Lok Adalat was held in the District Court Complex, Samba under the chairmanship of ML Manhas, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority. One MACT case was settled and an amount of Rs 415000 was awarded as compensation. 84 cases were also taken up in the Lok Adalat, out of which 40 cases were disposed off and a fine of Rs 20,700 were realized on the spot.
A Lok Adalat was held at Munsiff JMIC Court Complex, RS Pura. Parvaiz Iqbal, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee, RS Pura and Slahuddin Ahmed, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, RS Pura presided over the Bench. 35 cases pertaining to compoundable criminal cases were listed before the Lok Adalat, out of which 29 cases were disposed. Fine amounting to Rs 11550 was realized during the proceedings of the Lok Adalat.
