KATHUA, Apr 27: The sleuths of Excise Department at minor Toll Post Kote Punnu foiled a major bid to smuggle Polythene when 1000 kgs of Polythene was seized from vehicle bearing registration No.JK20-5206.
As per the documents, the vehicle was carrying tissue paper vide invoice No.R-41 dated 26-04-2017. However, on physical checking, it was found to be carrying 1000 kg of polythene concealed beneath tissue paper. The evaders tried to import banned polythene by importing the same in the garb of tissue paper belonging to M/s Vig Paper Converter, B 25, 368/1, Karabar Road New Sabji Mandi Ludhiana. The vehicle along with seized Polythene is being handed over to the Pollution Control Board, for further action under relevant rules.
The whole operation was conducted by the Excise & Taxation Officer, Ajay Bharti, Inspector Ashok Khajuria, and Mohd Younis and Sub-Inspector, Balbinder Singh.
