JAMMU,  Apr 27: The farmers and Khair trees growers  from Jammu, Samba, Kathua belt today held protest demonstration in support of their demands.
The farmers moved to the office of Chief Conservator of Forests  and held protest demonstration. They alleged that they want to export their Khair trees outside the State for getting good rates but some officers of the department under the pressure of the Forest Minister were not allowing them to do so. A lobby has been created to harass the farmers  involved in growing Khair trees. This lobby of influential people  in the department is trying to control the whole Khair trade.
They warned to  intensify the agitation and expose the whole  nexus if their harassment and victimization is not stopped.  They said after long period Supreme Court has lifted ban and provided opportunity to the farmers to sell their trees to raise their economic condition. Under SRO 111 they are free to sell these trees outside the State. But Forest Department was not allowing them the permission for the same. The officers are under the influence of some BJP politicians who are trying to control this trade for their own benefit. They sought the intervention of Chief Minister  Mehbooba Mufti and the Union Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh into the matter.   They also warned to conduct Gherao of Forest Minister Ch Lal Singh at his residence.
