100 leprosy patients, families examined at Kusht Ashram

JAMMU, Feb 1: A heart diseases awareness camp was organized at Kusht Ashram, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu today in which and 100 patients including their families were examined.
The camp was organised under supervision of Dr Sushil K Sharma, Head Department of Cardiology, Government Medical College, Jammu along with a team of doctors which consisted of Dr Nasir, Dr Mohi Kalsotra, Dr D Kapoor and Paramedics including Kashmiri Lal and Rajesh Sharma with volunteers including Gourav Sharma, Lokesh, G.L. Sharma and Ramesh Sharma.
In the camp, the patients were given benefit of diagnostic tests like ECG, Biochemistry and free medicines were also distributed. In addition the problems related to patients with Leprosy were screened and appropriate advice regarding the management of those problems were given to that subset of patients.
Dr Sushil Sharma highlighted the role of social and medical support to the patients of Leprosy so that they can lead a comfortable life in the society.
Further, Dr Sharma stressed upon the preventive aspect of cardiac diseases. In this regard, people in general were advised to adapt a healthy life style which includes regular walk and physical activities and shun smoking and obesity, which another factor for which people should be aware because it is a precursor for large number of disease itself.
