NEW DELHI : In a tribute to Mahatama Gandhi on the centenary of his return to India from South Africa, Public broadcaster All India Radio has planned a 100-episode series on its FM radio network.
AIR said that the research based series is produced by veteran broadcaster Madhuker Upadhyay and aims to recreate the perspective of Gandhiji’s return to India from South Africa in 1915.
“Each episode has a unique dimension. Fluidity in the narration by Madhuker Upadhyay helps in visualising the ethos of the period that led Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the greatest Pravasi Bhartiya, to become ‘The Mahatma’,” it said in the statement.
In the radio series, each narrative will highlight facts like why there were 365 days of quietness in Gandhi’s life after his return from South Africa or why his eyes which were filled with enthusiasm and zeal had a forlorn look when he did not see his political guru Gopal Krishna Gokhale, the broadcaster said.
The series will begin on 9th January, 2015 at 8.30 AM on FM Rainbow Network and 9.15 AM on FM Gold Network of AIR. (AGENCIES)
