10 kg IED recovered

SRINAGAR, May 15: Security forces today prevented a major Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) strike in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district by arresting four Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and recovered 10 kilogramme Improvised Explosive Device from their possession.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, told Excelsior that the IED was recovered after a joint operation was conducted by Army’s 55 RR, Pulwama Police and 183/182 battalion in an orchard in Barpora village of Pulwama district.
He said that inputs were received by the Police that JeM was planning a major strike in Pulwama after which operation was launched.
Four OGWs of JeM identified as Bilal Ahmed Ganai, Feroz Ahmad and Yawar Ahmed Dar, residents of Barpora Pulwama and another Waqar Ahmed Pandit, a resident of Talangam Pulwama were arrested.
Police said that these OGWs were working for JeM commander Zahir Tiger, who is resident of Karimabad in district Pulwama and is wanted by security forces.
