JAMMU, Apr 16: As a prelude to 2030 Maha Kumb at Shadipora in Central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, a ten day long Kumb will be held at confluence of river Vitasta (Jehlum) and Sindh at Shadipora from July 15 to 24 this year.
This was announced by Jyotshi Omkar Nath Shastri, chairman, Pt Prem Nath Shastri Sanskritik Shodh Sansthan and Editor in Chief of Vijeshwar Panchanag along with the organisers of the Maha Kumb here today.
Shastri Ji said over two lakh people are expected to participate in this year’s religious event at Shadipora from different parts of country and abroad to take a holy dip in the sacred river. He said the Maha Kumb will be held on June 11 in 2030 after a gap of 14 years but till that time every year 10 day long Kumb will be held at this sacred place.
He said besides, religious heads, prominent people, Maha Mandleshwars and heads of various Akhadas all over the country including some political personalities will also participate in the religious programme.
He said on July 15 holy Flag hosting will be held and on July 22 the installation of Sacred idols (Murti Pratishthan) will be performed at Shadipora and on July 24 the concluding day of the function, the immersion of sacred Kalsh will be held at the Shadipora Sangam in which a large number of devotees will take part.
Shastri Ji said a Chandi Maha Yagya will be performed at Mata Kheerbhawani Tulmulla in connection with Maha Kumb on July 19,20 and 21 and the holy dip at Shadipora Sangam will start on July 15 till conclusion of the 10 day long religious programme.
The tented accommodation will be provided to the pilgrims at Shadipora participating the Maha Kumb while for others the arrangements will be made at Mata Kheer Bhawani shrine, Tulmulla. The organisers have appealed the Government to ensure all arrangements for the pilgrims participating in the Kumb.
Shastri Ji said that during the Kumb a Dharam Sansad and a cultural programme will also be held at Tulmulla.
He said the Maha Kumb at Kashmir has a great religious significance as earlier the Maha Kumb at Shadipora was held after a gap of 75 years in 2016.
Kali Sarswat Agori Baba, Sandeep Gupta of Sewa Samparan Foundation and Bharat Raina member of Shadipora Committee were present in the press conference. They said to keep the tradition alive devotees should visit in large numbers to participate in this year’s Kumb. They appealed all to take part in this religious programme to keep their age old culture and traditions alive.
