1 dies, 9 hurt in accidents

RAJOURI, May 29:  A retired lecturer was killed in road accident near Muradpur in Rajouri while nine persons were injured as a Tata Magic vehicle over turned in Draba area of Surankote today.
A police spokesman said that retired Lecturer Sukhdev Singh Mehta (70), resident of Ward No. 7 Rajouri was going towards Bathuni this morning on his scooter.  Near Muradpur, his scooter was hit by a car. Mehta received serious injuries and was rushed to District Hospital, Rajouri where he was declared as dead. He was noted social activist of Rajouri area. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
A report from Poonch said that nine persons were injured three of them seriously when a Tata Magic vehicle turned turtle in Draba area of Surankote today. The vehicle bearing registration No. JK 12/4617 was on way to Surankote from Bafliaz.
The injured persons were shifted to Surankote hospital where three of them were later referred to GMC Hospital, Jammu. The accident victims are identified as Hakim Bi, Mohd Rafiq, Mohd Farooq, Tariq Mehmood, Rubina Kouser, Sobia kouser, Bashrat Hussain , Jameela Bi and Sabia Bi hailing from Bafliaz and Draba area.
