Mushfiqur powers Bangladesh to thrilling 5-wkt win over Sri Lanka

Seasoned campaigner Mushfiqur Rahim’s awe-inspiring innings of 72 runs off 35 balls, studded with 5 fours and 4 sixes powered Bangladesh to thrilling 5-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the ongoing Nidahas Twenty20 Trophy  here today.
Openers Tamim Iqbal (47 off 29 balls) and Liton Das (43 off 19 balls) set the tone, scoring 74 runs in 5.5 overs, before the dismissal of Das after his quick-fire innings. Soumya Sarkar (24 off 22 balls) and skipper Mahmudullah (20 off 11 balls) also contributed to the team’s success. For Sri Lanka, Nuwan Pradeep took 2 wickets, while Thisara Perera and Dushmantha Chameera claimed one wicket each. Mushfiqur Rahim was in sublime touch, rather in the form of his life, hitting the ball with fluid grace and utter brilliance to take his side to home.
Earlier, blazing half-centuries by Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera powered Sri Lanka to a formidable 214 for six.
Mendis (57) and Perera (74) toyed with the Bangladesh attack with a flurry of boundaries and sixes, to the delight of the home crowd at the Premadasa Stadium. Upul Tharanga and Danushka Gunathilaka also chipped in with brisk 32 and 26 runs respectively.
