J&K football team smashes Andhra Pradesh by 5-1 in opening match

JAMMU, Aug 28: J&K football team smashed Andhra Pradesh by 5-1 goals in the opening match during the National Talent Search and Nurture Programme, being held at DPS Ghaziabad.
Skipper and goalkeeper Shreyan Singh lead the team with some super saves throughout the match. Ali Khan played his heart out to score two extraordinary goals although he missed plenty of chances. Two goals were netted in by Sambhav Koul and opening goal was scored by Vildan Gul.
With this win, J&K has good chances to qualify for quarterfinals before which it will lock horns against Bihar on August 30.
It must be mentioned that these U-16 kids from Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts were short-listed after a rigorous selection process at cluster and district levels. Almost all the schools of Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts were contacted to participate in this program. Only 8 schools participated from Jammu and Samba whereas 9 schools participated from Jammu. There was no participation from Kashmir region or other districts of Jammu region.
State Coordinator, Iqbal Singh, who is with the team at Ghaziabad, informed that more games like Badminton and Basketball will be added to this program in current new session and requested all the schools to encourage the kids to participate in further such initiatives.
