LEH, Dec 23: Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) 5th Bn organised an exhibition match between Sindhu and Pangong Team at ITBP Ice Hockey Rink near Indus River Choglamsar, here today.
The match was played to check the performances of players for the upcoming winter Ice hockey tournaments.
5th Bn Commandant Pritam Singh was chief guest on the occasion besides Second-in-Command Rinku Thapa, Adjutant Rajesh Kumar Punia and other officers, superiors Officer and families member were also present to witness the match.
Scoring 1 goal in the first 15 minutes of play Sindhu was leading the match however Pangong team bounced back to score 7 goals against Sindhu’s 6 goals thus Pangong team won the exhibition match.
Expressing his satisfaction over the ITBP Ice Hockey Team performances in the exhibition match, Commanding Officer Pritam Singh highly appreciated the efforts of team coach Sonam Paldan in shaping the skill of the players.
He said that in order to bring perfection in the game, ITBP practiced for two months in Gurugram and now team is ready to face the main opponent Indian Army LSRC team in the upcoming tournament.
Talking to media coach SI Sonam Paldan said that ITBP had been practicing Ice Hockey ever since the Indus water starts freezing in Ladakh from first week of December besides ITBP also got an opportunity to practice for two months at Ambience Mall Gurugram Haryana thus team is fully prepared to face the upcoming winter tournament matches.
It may be mentioned here that different Ice Hockey sporting clubs from Ladakh region represent the Indian National Ice Hockey team to play in foreign countries.
