District Level Inter-Zonal Competitions held in Jammu, Reasi

JAMMU/REASI, May 15: District Level Inter-Zonal Competitions in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Wrestling (Jammu only) and Volleyball for Under-14 and Under-17 boys and girls got underway in the Districts of Jammu and Reasi, today.
At Reasi, the Competitions were organized at General Zorawar Sports Stadium Reasi, in which around 175 students of all the five Zones of of district Reasi including Chassana, Mahore, Arnas, Pouni and Reasi participated with vigour and enthusiasm.
Nimisha Anand, Chief Accounts Officer, Reasi graced the occasion of this district Level sporting event for girls.
While addressing the participants, Ms Anand highlighted the role of games and sports in boosting the women not only physically but psychologically and socially as well. She further added that sports go a long way in raising the morale of the female and does make them farmore self-reliant and self-confident.
Zone Reasi remained overall Champions in this  Tournament by winning Kho-Kho event in both the Under-14  and Under-17 age groups. In Under 14 Reasi Zone defeated Zone Pouni in one-sided affair by 16-05 whereas in Under-17 Reasi got better of Zone Chassana in a close contest by 1 point and the score remained 09-08.
In Kabaddi Under-14 final, Zone Mahore defeated Zone Pouni by 41-17, while Arnas Zone beat Pouni by 39-24 in Under 17 category.
Pouni Zone defeated Reasi in the finals of Under-17 Volleyball in two straight sets and the score remained 25-18 and 25-17.
Meanwhile, Inter-Zonal District Level Competitions of District Jammu in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Wrestling boys under the age of 14 and 17 years got underway at HSS Domana and GHS Satwari Cantt, here today.
In all 300 boys drawn from Pvt./ Govt. Institutions  of Group A are taking part in the competition at GHS Satwari Cantt and similarly 350 boys drawn from Pvt./Govt. Institutions of Group B are taking part in the competitions at HSS Domana.
Earlier, the Competition at GHS Satwari Cantt was declared open by Makhan Lal, Principal, HSS Satwari  in the presence of Raj Rani, Headmaster GHS Satwari Cantt.
At GHSS Domana the competition were declared open by Baba Anchal Singh, Religious Guru in presence of Principal GHSS Domana in a simple and well attended function. while addressing the participants, Mr Singh advised the student players to desist from taking drugs which is the stepping stone for all other bad habits.
The competitions are being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports District Jammu under the Chairmanship of Madan Lal, Jt. Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu and under the overall supervision of Sukhdev Raj Sharma, DYSSO Jammu.
In Wrestling Under-14 boys final-32 Kg- Arun Singh of Satwari Zone, 1st; -35 Kg-Sunil Kumar of Satwari Zone –1st; -38 Kg-Bajrangi of Satwari Zone 1st; -41 Kg-Amit Kumar of Satwari Zone-1st; -45 Kg-Shiv Kumar of Satwari Zone-1st; -50 Kg-Raman Kumar of Satwari Zone–1st;
-55 Kg = Rakhsham Sharma of Gandhi Nagar Zone-1st; -60 Kg-Shakel Ahmed of Miran Sahib Zone -1s, while in Werstling Under-17 boys final, -42 Kg -Karan Dev of Arnia Zone-1st; -46 Kg-Mohd Hanief of Jammu Zone-1st; -49 Kg- Arun Deep Singh of Jammu Zone–1st; -54 Kg- Rafiq Ahmed of Satwari Zone-1st; -58 Kg-Parveen Kumar of Satwari Zone–1st; -63 Kg- Ashiq Hussain of Jammu Zone-Ist; -69 Kg- Mukhtair Ali of Bishnah Zone-1st; -85 Kg-Ujjwal Khajuria of Jammu Zone-1st and -100 Kg- Farman of Gandhi Nagar Zone-1st.
In Volleyball Under-14 boys, RS Pura Zone beat Gandhi Nagar Zone by 2-0 Sets and Jammu Zone drubbed Satwari Zone by 2-0 sets, while in Volleyball Under-17 boys, Gandhi Nagar Zone defeated Jammu Zone by 2-0 sets; RS.Pura Zone beat Bishnah Zone by 2-0 sets; Arnia Zone Miran Sahib Zone by 2-0 set
Kabaddi Undr/14 Boys: Gandhi Nagar Zone beat Jammu Zone by 27-12 pts; RSPura Zone beat Bishnah Zone by 32-05 pts; Miran Sahib Zone beat Satwari Zone by 27-4 points.
Kabaddi Under-17 Boys: RS Pura Zone trounced Jammu zone by 26-22 points; Arnia Zone beat Bishnah zone by 25-19 points and Miran Sahib Satwari zone by 34-26 points.
Kho-Kho Under-14 Boys: Satwari Zone trounced RSPura by 9-7 points; Gandhi Nagar prevailed over Jammu zone by 13-11 points; Arnia zone defeated Bishnah zone by 3-0 points.
Kho-Kho Under-17 Boys: Jammu zone outplayed Gandhi Nagar by 7-0 points;
Satwari zone beat RS Pura Zone by 4-1 points;
Miran Sahib Zone blanked Arnia Zone by 6-0 points.
In Football Under-14 Boys semifinal, APS Kaluchak trounced MHAC Nagbani by 3-2 goals via tie-breaker and Heritage School beat BSF Paloura by 5-4 goals, while in Football Under-17 boys semifinal, APS Kaluchak and Jodhamal School emerged as winners.
