RAJOURI, July 19: Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, former Cabinet Minister and newly appointed vice president of the Jammu and Kashmir BJP, today launched a pointed and forceful critique of the NC-led Union Territory administration, accusing it of failing to meet the expectations of the people and betraying public trust over the past 11 months.
He was addressing a large public gathering in Koteranka. Zulfkar highlighted the shortcomings of the current administration, such as steep power tariff hikes, lack of employment opportunities, inadequate healthcare services, and the halted progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission.
“People were promised free electricity, jobs, and better governance. What they received instead was a series of disappointments. The administration has failed to deliver even the most basic of assurances,” he said.
Zulfkar lamented the growing gap between promises and delivery under the NC-led governance, asserting that the people’s patience is wearing thin amid rising costs and crumbling public services. “Public discontent is growing not because of high expectations, but because of unmet essentials,” he added.
Contrasting this with the Centre’s performance, Zulfkar lauded the Government of India for its development initiatives, particularly the Rs 10,000 crore Mughal Road Tunnel project, PMGSY Phase 4 with Rs 4,200 crore investment, and several welfare schemes like PMAY, Ayushman Bharat, Jal Jeevan Mission, free ration distribution, old-age pensions, and marriage assistance for girls from underprivileged backgrounds.
“For the first time since 2014, development has started reaching the last person in the queue, without any bias, delay, or discrimination,” he remarked, crediting the BJP for bridging the historical development deficit in the region.
He concluded with a strong assurance to the people of Koteranka and the Pir Panjal region that he would act as their voice and push their concerns to the highest levels of the BJP leadership and Central Government.
