KATHUA, June 19: Deputy Commissoner Kathua Ramesh Kumar chaired an annual meeting of Zila Sainik Welfare Board here today.
Additonal Deputy Commissoner Kathua Dr Bharat Bhushan, Zila Sainik Welfare Board Officer Col. Y.S Andotra, Adm. Commandant Basohli B.K Suri, CMO Kathua, CEO Kathua, DTO Kathua, Head Post Master and members of the board and ex-serviceman attended the meeting.
At the outset ZSWO Kathua Y.S Andotra gave a resume of the functioning of Zila Sainik Welfare Board and threw light on sainik welfare schemes for ex-serviceman, war vetrens/widow, war disabled, orphan, gallantry award winner and other help offered by the board for exserviceman and their dependents.
The Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kumar called upon the ZSWO Kathua to schedule two meeting in a year so that redressal of issues can be ensured in time bound manner. He also called for organising meeting in block and tehsil level so that exserviceman community can be updated with latest schemes and procedures.
The DC also announced a dedicated one hour for listening to the grieviance of ex-serviceman on every Saturday from 10 AM to 11 AM. He assured that all possible efforts will be made to address issues raised by the members.
Deputy Commissioner called for organising more awareness programmes for increasing coverage of sainik welfare schemes for the welfare and settlement of ex-servicemen, their dependents and war widows.
The DC also assured help for upgrding infrastructure and staff of Zila Sainik Welfare Board Office Kathua.
The ex-Servicemen present in the meeting apprised about various issues and sought intervention of the district administration in redressing these at the earliest.
Earlier, ZSWO gave details of awareness programmes conducted for expanding coverage of sainik welfare schemes for the welfare and settlement of ex-servicemen and their dependents.
