We the Jammuites have got a wonder in the form of General Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu University. No doubt, it’s a wonder in the domain of infrastructure in the city. But equally wonderful are our fancies about this monument. Sincerely speaking, JU hoasts about it and offers a space on charges. The big firms, schools etc organise even the minuscule, functions.What is wrong ? Nothing is wrong but the fact is that majority of these events have nothing or less to do with the common cause of general public. First thing is that the university administration despite taking charges and collecting enough revenue does not bother about its condition. If a glass is broken, it is not replaced at the earliest. Second the JU students, when they have to organise events are also charged and treated at par with those who hold non-university functions. Third, the schools of the city use the space to boost their image. But the worst sufferers are the parents who have to pay. One who is sincere fears that a day may come when barat receptions would be held in the auditorium. And Jammu-parents would be ready to pay to the schools even if the schools would conduct classes in big hotels.
