JAMMU, Sept 22: Zone Gandhi Nagar clinched the Under-19 Girls Basketball title by defeating Zone Bhalwal by 22-18 in a thrilling final held at Green Field, Gandhi Nagar here, as part of the ongoing Inter-School District Level Selection Trials and Inter-Zonal District Level Competitions organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu.
The final witnessed a competitive display of talent, with Shruti (Zone Bhalwal) scoring 9 baskets, Priya contributing 4, while Sanvi from Zone Gandhi Nagar led her team with 5 crucial baskets.
Earlier in the day, Zone Gandhi Nagar defeated Zone Bishnah by 26-4 in the first semi-final, while Zone Bhalwal overcame Zone Satwari by 22-18 in the second semi-final. Simultaneously, Inter-District Division Level Competition in Taekwondo (AAG Boys) also began at the Indoor Hall, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
Approximately 358 students participated today. The competitions aim to identify and promote young sporting talent for future events. The matches were officiated by departmental experts and technical officials including Mousmi Verma, Rajesh Bandral, Vaneet Pangotra and others.
