SRINAGAR, Aug 20: Political analyst and Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Huda Zariwala today condemned the circulation of fake news linking her image to the murder of a minor girl in Ganderbal, calling the allegations “baseless and defamatory.”
Addressing a press conference here, Zariwala said she was “deeply disturbed” after her photograph was shared on social media and some media portals, falsely identifying her as the accused in the case. “This is not only baseless and defamatory but also a grave attempt to malign my image and mislead the public,” she said.
She said she has filed defamation cases against individuals and outlets responsible for circulating the false reports. “Legal action has been initiated against all media portals and individuals who irresponsibly shared the fake news and my photo. This kind of misinformation can have dangerous consequences and must be dealt seriously,” Zariwala said.
Offering condolences to the victim’s family, she said, “My heartfelt condolences are with the family in Ganderbal. May Allah grant the little one a place in Jannah and give her family strength and patience to bear this immense loss.”
