NEW DELHI: Senior batsman Yuvraj Singh, who has been in prolific form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare tournament, was rewarded as he made a comeback to the T20 internationals side, when the BCCI Senior Selection Commitee today announced the side for the tour of Australia.
It was also a dream comeback for veteran Ashish Nehra in the T20 internationals side while Gujarat all-rounder Hardik Pandya was the other surprise inclusion in the squad.
However, star batsman Suresh Raina, who went for a whopping Rs 12.5 crore to new franchise – Rajkot – in the Indian Premier League (IPL) player draft was dropped from the ODI side while Karnataka opener Manish Pandey, Punjab pacers Barinder Sran and while Himachal batsman Rishi Dhawan were the new faces in the side.
Earlier today, the Sandip Patil-led selection committee met here for almost two hours to select the side for the three Twenty20 internationals and five ODIs against Australia.
The selectors named the team keeping in mind the upcoming ICC World T20, slated to be held in India from March 9 to April 3. The selectors also decided to retain Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the skipper of the T20 side till the ICC World T20. (AGENCIES)
