JAMMU, Feb 10: Demanding restoration of Statehood status to Jammu and Kashmir, Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) took out a massive protest rally in Jammu on Monday.
The protest rally took off from Maharaja Hari Singh statue near main Tawi Bridge and after passing through Bikram Chowk, culminated at the starting point.
A number of youth and Yuva Rajput Sabha activists, under the leadership of Chairman YRS Raghuvir Singh, president YRS Vikram Singh Chib and former president Rajan Singh Happy, took part in the protest rally.
Carrying national flags and placards, the protesting YRS activists raised slogans in support of their demand for restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
While addressing the gathering, YRS Chairman Raghuvir Singh said; “Statehood is our birth right, which we will get back. It’s very sad and painful that once biggest princely State J&K is now demoted into UT and divided into parts.”
Raghuvir strongly criticized the Central Government for its failure to fulfill the promise and demand of restoration of Statehood to J&K despite clear directions given by Supreme Court in this regard.
President of YRS, Vikram Singh warned that if the Central Government does not consider their demand of Statehood seriously, Yuva Rajput Sabha will launch a massive agitation very soon throughout the J&K. “Members of YRS and district teams will organize protest march in every district and raise the voice against Administration for restoration of Statehood,” he added.
Former president of YRS, Rajan Singh Happy expressed anger against political parties and alleged that these parties played with the sentiments and emotions of people of J&K as their promises of restoring of Statehood and empowerment of locals were false. He asked, “Why are they silent on the burning issues being faced by the people of J&K?”
YRS leaders also raised voice against increasing crime, drugs and mafia in Jammu province and appealed people of J&K to extend support to YRS as the one and only way to ensure peace, law and order and better future of J&K is restoration of the Statehood.
