JAMMU, Aug 31: A 24-year-old youth sustained critical injuries today after he allegedly tried to end his life by jumping into River Tawi from the main bridge.
“Sandeep Kumar son of Om Parkash, resident of Chinore, jumped off the main Tawi bridge this evening,” a police official said. He said eye witnesses immediately informed the police which rushed to the spot and along with locals launched a rescue operation.
The official said that the youth was evacuated alive but he received severe injuries and was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where his condition was stated to be critical when the last reports came in.
Meanwhile, Nehru Market police had taken cognizance of the matter.
