RAJOURI, Mar 5: Youth from Dasal Panchayat and Pathanmoda area in district Rajouri have started hunger strike to highlight the lack of basic facilities in their locality and to draw the attention of the district administration towards their long-pending demands.
According to the protesting youth, several essential services and development works in the area have remained neglected for a long time, causing serious inconvenience to the local population. They expressed strong concern over the poor condition of the road in the area, stating that the damaged and dilapidated road often leads to accidents and creates immense difficulties for daily commuters.
The youth also raised the issue of acute drinking water scarcity in the locality. They said that many households are struggling to get proper drinking water, which has become a major problem for the residents of the area.
Highlighting the lack of facilities for young people, the protesters said that their Panchayat does not have a playground where youth can participate in sports and other recreational activities. They further pointed out that there is no high school in the area, forcing students to travel long distances after completing their middle school education, which puts an additional burden on families.
The protesting youth stated that they have repeatedly raised these issues with the concerned authorities but no concrete action has been taken so far. As a result, they have been compelled to launch a hunger strike.
They said that the hunger strike will continue until higher authorities provide a clear assurance that their genuine demands will be addressed at the earliest. The youth added that they are determined to continue their protest peacefully until their grievances are resolved.
