RAJOURI, Sept 14: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a young man in Dera Gali area of Thannamandi Tehsil of Rajouri district on Sunday.
The official sources identified the deceased as Mohammad Younis, son of Mohammad Maqbool, a resident of Lah village in Thannamandi. Younis was driving a Tata Mobile vehicle and moving towards Dhok to pick up his family members when the mishap occurred.
While trying to give way to a coming vehicle at a sharp turn near DKG, he reportedly lost control, and the vehicle rolled down into a deep gorge.
Local residents, assisted by Army men, immediately rushed to the spot and evacuated the injured driver. He was shifted to Government Hospital Thannamandi, where Dr Sageer declared him as `brought dead’.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident, and after conducting post-mortem and other necessary legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family for last rites.
