SRINAGAR, Nov 5: Police today said a youth hailing from Palhallan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district who was accused in the murder of a Head Constable was arrested today.
A police official said Parvaiz Ahmad Gojri of Palhallan, who was absconding from last two years, was arrested in connection with a case under FIR number 264/2013 under Sections 302, 307, 148, 149 and 511 RPC.
A police Head Constable identified as Kawlain Singh was killed and several others were injured when their vehicle had overturned at Palhallan along Srinagar-Baramulla Highway after coming under heavy stone-pelting from protesters on October 16 2013.
Meanwhile, the residents of Palhallan staged a protest against the arrest of Parvaiz and attempted to block the Srinagar-Baramulla Highway. Police said they pelted stones on private vehicles. “They were chased by police and highway was made through,” said a police official here.
