Young girl killed, mother injured as truck hits scooty

JAMMU, Nov 22: A 17-year-old girl was killed and her mother received serious injuries when a truck hit their two-wheeler at Digiana Pully on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway.
“The mishap occurred at about 1:45 PM when the mother and daughter were travelling on a scooty bearing Registration Number JK02BE-8327,” a police official said. He said the speeding truck bearing Registration Number JK02BK-4771 hit their two-wheeler and headed towards its onward journey, leaving the duo critically injured on the crime spot.
The official said that the injured mother and daughter were immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where the girl identified as Rupali Saini daughter of Ravi Kumar, resident of Bari Brahmana, was declared as brought dead by the doctors. However, her mother namely Rekha Rani was responding to the treatment and her condition was stated to stable when the last reports came in.
“The body of the deceased girl was sent for postmortem while a case in this connection was registered at police station Gangyal and further investigation started. A manhunt was on to nab the accused truck driver,” the official added.
