JAMMU, Aug 23: A felicitation meeting of the newly nominated District Presidents of the Youth National Conference (YNC), Jammu Province, was held today at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan, Jammu, under the chairmanship of Sardar Tejinder Pal Singh Aman, Provincial President YNC, Jammu Province.
Senior National Conference leader and Provincial President JKNC Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta, was the chief guest on the occasion. He highlighted the significant achievements of the Omar Abdullah-led Government, particularly in empowering the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted various initiatives started under the leadership of Omar Abdullah, including education reforms, self-employment schemes, and special provisions for youth under Mission Yuva in J&K.
Addressing the newly elected District Presidents, Sardar Tejinder Pal Singh Aman called upon them to constitute District Committees in their respective areas within a fortnight. He stressed the need to actively disseminate the vision and programmes of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) to the grassroots level.
Expressing concern over the increasing cases of drug abuse among youth, the speakers underlined the urgent need for collective action. YNC leadership resolved to initiate anti-drug awareness programmes across Jammu Province in collaboration with social organizations, local authorities, and healthcare professionals.
“Drugs are destroying the lives and futures of our youth. We must unite against this menace and create a healthy, positive environment for our young generation,” Aman said.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, Provincial Secretary JKNC Jammu Province, advised YNC office-bearers to begin preparations for the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Body elections, and to mobilize young voters across all constituencies.
Nitish Goswami, Vice President YNC Jammu Province, emphasized the need for the youth to connect with the people at the grassroots.
