YAIKS holds Sammelan, discusses challenges of displaced youth

JAMMU, Mar 17: The Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) held a grand Sammelan here, today in which the activities of the organisation and the challenges confronted displaced youth were threadbare discussed.
The Sammelan was chaired by YAIKS chief, R K Bhat who threw light on the various steps taken by the organisation for welfare of displaced unemployed youth.
He made a strong appeal to Government to announce more posts under the package for absorption of left over candidates under the package while making a special reference to CAT decision in this regard. Bhat, while commenting on the decision expressed the hope that Government of India will sanction more posts for the community youth under the rehabilitation package as there was a commitment of 15,000 posts will be sanctioned for the displaced youth while the package was announced in 2008.
The YAIKS advisors D N Sadhu, T N Ganjoo, Tej Krishan Tickoo, vice presidents – Sanjay Ganjoo, Manoj Handoo, Working Committee president, Vimal Raina and Pummy Koul were also present on the dais who also spoke on the occasion.
They said the struggle launced by YAIKS under the leadership of R K Bhat is yielding fruit while expressing the hope that the Government will concede the demand by sanctioning remaining posts under package.
R K Bhat in his speech emphasized that employment opportunities within J&K not only ensure survival but also help reconnect the community to their roots, culture, and social, religious fabric. He said YAIKS is committed to continue the Kashmiri till every Pandit family gets its share. “More Than 25 thousand KPs have retired during the displacement of 36 years and we are asking Government to fill up these vacancies by the community members.”
He demanded an additional 15,000 jobs under the PM’s package, 2-3% reservation for displaced persons from Kashmir in Central Government jobs, and educational institutions. He expressed high hopes that the Modi- Government would address their genuine issues without further delay.
The welcome address was delivered by Kamal Tak and vote of thanks was given by Sanjay Raina while the stage was managed by Ajay Pandita.
