JAMMU, June 1: Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) today demanded reservation for Kashmiri Pandits in Government jobs and promotions.
The demand in this regard was raised by the members of YAIKS in a meeting held here today in which ll of its senior leaders, core members and executive members of 47 constituencies of Kashmir participated.
In the meeting they stated that UT Government of J&K vide it’s order No: 2061 JK( GAD) dated, 10.12.2024 have framed Cabinet sub-committee of 3 Cabinet Ministers for examining the grievances regarding reservation rules.
It was discussed in the meeting that all categories SC, ST I, ST II, RBA, EWS, ALC, IB, OBC & others have been provided reservations in appointment as well as promotions by the UT Government of J&K but a miniscule Kashmiri Pandit Community have been ignored from such reservation.
“KPs are worst sufferers due to displacement/ migration and are living in exile for the last more than 35 years and have spent their life time in tents camps & non camps as have lost their home /hearth / land/ property however they sold part of their properties in Kashmir for the welfare of their children such as education, trainings, marriage and construction of residential houses for permanent settlement,” they said.
“We are no where existing in any reservation rules. As number of times demands were projected through print media/social media/ press statements and representations but till date nothing have been done by the Government,” they added.
The members also stated that YAIKS under the leadership of Pt R K Bhat the organization have submitted memorandum/ representations, to respected PM, HM of India and concerned dignitaries of J&K including Cabinet Sub Committee Members of J&K Ministers Sakina Itoo, Satish Sharma and Javad Ahmad Rana for providing reservations to the Kashmiri Pandits in jobs and promotions.
Among others who participated in the meeting are Sanjeev Koul, D N Sadhu, Sanjay Ganjoo, Manooj Handoo, B K Bhat, Vimal Raina, Sanjay Raina, Ajay Pandita, Naresh Raina, Kamal Tak, Ruhi Nazar Lovely Bhan and others.
