World Environment Day celebrated with great enthusiasm across J&K

JAMMU, June 5: World Environment Day was celebrated today with great enthusiasm by various Government departments, educational institutions and social organizations across Jammu and Kashmir by organizing a number of activities viz. plantation drives, seminars, awareness programs, walkathons and clean-up drives.
Addressing a function organized at the Road Transport Corporation Complex, Jammu to celebrate World Environment Day, Satish Sharma, Minister for Food, Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services and Sports said, “Environmental preservation is not merely a choice, but a necessity for survival of humane race. We must act decisively to maintain the ecological balance through all necessary measures.” He emphasized the critical importance of balancing conservation and sustainable development.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the senior officers from various departments, environmental enthusiasts and RTC officials. On the occasion, Managing Director RTC, Rakesh Sarangal, outlined various steps being taken by the Corporation to reduce its carbon footprint. A tree plantation drive was carried out within the premises. The event concluded with a pledge by all the attendees to adopt environmentally responsible behaviour in both personal and professional spheres.
To mark the occasion, J&K Pollution Control Committee (J&KPCC) launched a pre-campaign for mobilization and to outreach the stakeholders through dissemination of creatives on WED 2025 theme “Ending Plastic pollution Globally”, and organize clean-up drives, workshops/webinars and plantation drives in all districts of the UT during the pre-campaign culminated today. All the activities were monitored and supervised by Vasu Yadav, Chairman, J&KPCC and organized under the directions of Commissioner Secretary, Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment.
In Jammu, a clean-up drive led by Ghansham Singh, Member Secretary, J&KPCC was conducted along the River Tawi. Thereafter, the officers of J&KPCC, J&K Forest Development Corporation and Department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing jointly took a pledge in Parivesh Bhawan, Transport Nagar, Narwal, Jammu to keep the environment clean and green. In Srinagar, an awareness rally was organized by J&KPCC in which more than 100 students from various schools participated. The rally started from office premises of J&KPCC Rajbagh and culminated at Zero Bridge.
Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) organized a series of impactful programs under its jurisdiction to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices. The event commenced with the formation of a human chain on Gujjar Nagar bridge over Tawi River which was ceremonially flagged off by MLA Jammu East, Yudhvir Sethi, along with Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, and JMC Commissioner, Dr Devansh Yadav. The human chain culminated at Maharaja Hari Singh Park, where an oath-taking ceremony was conducted, reaffirming the commitment to cleanliness and sustainable living and not to throw garbage in water bodies.
Department of Youth Services and Sports marked World Environment Day with a series of events across the UT, organized under the patronage of Rajinder Singh Tara, Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K. The Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) observed the day at both of its Headquarters in Srinagar and Jammu.
At Jammu, the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports launched a massive Plantation Drive at the banks of River Tawi near Cricket Ground, Khel Gaon, Nagrota, under the overall supervision of Jitender Mishra, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports Central. DYSS in collaboration with the 14th Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) G Qay, also organized a plantation drive at Wazir Bagh in Srinagar.
Agriculture Department Jammu, in conversation with members of FICCI FLO, celebrated World Environment Day by planting 100 saplings within the premises of the Directorate of Agriculture, Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo, Jammu. The drive was led by Arvinder Singh Reen, Director Agriculture Jammu, who was joined by Arti Chowdhary, Chairperson FICCI FLO, Vikrant Dogra, Chairman, JK Dairy Cooperative Federation & UNATI Multi State, as well as members of FICCI FLO.
To mark the occasion, Directorate of Ayush J&K and Arogya Bharti J&K conducted a collaborated Harit Yoga activity at Pacca Talab Park, Sarwal (Jammu) in which more than 325 participants participated. Chief Guest Yudhvir Sethi (MLA Jammu East) presided over the program, which was conducted under the guidance of Dr Nuzhat Bashir Shah, Director Ayush J&K and under the supervision of Dr Vandana Dogra and Dr Aruna Bhat, Medical Superintendent and Deputy MS respectively of Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu.
The School of Sciences celebrated the World Environment Day under the chairmanship of Vice- Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu (CUJ) and guidance of Dr Chander Shekhar, Dean School of Sciences, CUJ. An invited lecture on the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution Globally’ was organized. The event was followed by poster presentation and pledge regarding the Environment Day by the students of all departments of School of Sciences. After that a plantation drive was also held in the premises of School of Sciences.
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) celebrated the Day under the patronage of Prof B N Tripathi, Vice Chancellor. Under his leadership, more than 1,500 saplings were planted across the campus. Chief Guest, Dr Rajinder Pehshin, Director Education, delivered the keynote address focusing on the critical issue of plastic pollution.
Emphasizing that the fight against pollution begins with introspection about how we are contributing for protection of environment, Central University of Kashmir (CU Kashmir) Vice-Chancellor, Prof A Ravinder Nath highlighted the principle of net zero pollution and advocated for a circular economy where products are reused, recycled and repurposed rather than discarded. He was addressing the participants, during celebration of World Environment Day.
Jammu Airport marked World Environment Day with a solemn pledge and a vibrant tree plantation drive. The event was led by Airport Director Sanjeev Kumar Garg. Sunil Kumar Raghuwanshi, Senior Commandant CISF, was also present on the occasion and joined in the plantation drive.
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu marked World Environment Day with a special tree plantation drive under the national campaign theme ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’. Prof B S Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, led the plantation drive. He was joined by Rajesh Uppal, Principal Consultant, Maruti Suzuki.
The CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu celebrated the Day at its Regional Research Laboratory (RRL) High School, Jammu, under the CSIR-Jigyasa Mission. Students between 10 to 15 years from RRL High School and Heritage School enthusiastically participated in the “Art from Waste” activity. Dr Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu, was the chief guest. A plantation drive was also conducted in the school premises.
World Environment Day was observed with enthusiasm across the Zanskar Sub-Division, with major events held at the 13 Border Road Task Force (BRTF) camp in Padum and at Photang, Karsha. At the BRTF camp in Padum, Executive Councillor (EC) for RDD, Forest, and Information, LAHDC Kargil, Phunsok Tashi, presided as the chief guest, while Lt Col Aditya Venka attended as guest of honour. In a parallel event at Photang, Karsha, the Councilor for Karsha Constituency, Stanzin Jigmat, served as the chief guest, with SDM Zanskar, Romil Singh Donk as guest of honour.
World Environment Day was celebrated at Syed Mehdi Memorial Hall, Kargil with participation of Government departments, NGOs, school children and theatre artists. The event was organized by the Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment, and supported by different line departments of the District. Executive Councillor for Urban Development, LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohd Feroz, graced the occasion as chief guest. The event began with a student rally from Bus Stand to the Auditorium Hall.
Green Campus Task Force (GCFT-JU) and Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Jammu organized “Waste to Wonder” Competition celebrating “World Environment Day”. Chief Guest of the event was Prof Yash Pal Sharma, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences, JU. Total 16 teams comprising of 32 participants from various departments of University and affiliated colleges participated in the event with full zeal and enthusiasm.
National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar organized a day-long seminar on World Environment Day, aimed at addressing critical environmental challenges, particularly those caused by plastic pollution. The theme of the workshop was “Ending Plastic Pollution” and it was hosted by the Water Resource Management Centre (WRMC) of NIT Srinagar. Anoo Malhotra, Director General, Rural Sanitation, J&K, served the event as chief guest and Haji Manzoor Ahmad, Chairman NLCO Srinagar, graced the occasion as guest of honor.
J&K Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) commemorated the World Environment Day under the leadership of its president Sat Sharma, LoP J&K Assembly Sunil Sharma, MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma, general secretary & MLA Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal and district president Rohit Dubey by planting a sapling.
To celebrate World Environment Day, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) organized a special drawing and sketching competition at its high-tech nursery in village Kunya, Panthal, near Katra. Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB highlighted the Board’s commitment to environmental conservation.
In observance of World Environment Day, the Environmental Policy Group (EPG), in collaboration with the North Forest Circle of the J&K Forest Department, organized a significant awareness event at Valley Public School, Sopore, centred around the global theme “Ending Plastic Pollution.” The event commenced with a plantation drive led by the chief guest, Irfan Ali Shah, Conservator of Forests, North Circle, who was joined by guest of honour Zareef Ahmad Zareef, ADC Sopore Shabbir Ahmad Raina, Trustee EPG Dr Tauseef Ahmad Bhat and CEO Sopore Municipal Council Dr Showkat Ahmad.
State Bank of India, Local Head Office Chandigarh organized Cyclothon in association with Desh Bhagat University to mark World Environment Day and to create public awareness on this year’s theme of “Ending Plastic Pollution”. More than 400 cyclists participated in the cyclothon. It was flagged off by Neeraj Bharti, General Manager Network-2, Manmeet S Chhabra, General Manager Network-1, Surjit Kaur Patheja, Director Performing Arts and Media, Desh Bhagat University and other senior executives of the Bank.
Department of Youth Services and Sports of District Jammu celebrated the World Environment Day at District Headquarter, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu under the patronage of Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K Rajinder Singh Tara under the guidance of Joint Director YSS Ved Parkash and over all supervision of DYSSO Jammu Sukhdev Raj Sharma. A marathon/walkthon was to mark the day.
In celebration of the Day, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Rajesh Sharma, flagged off a marathon from the DC Office Complex to the Gujjar-Bakarwal Hostel, Samba. The event was organised by the DYSSO, Samba. A large number of field staff from the Youth Services and Sports Department enthusiastically participated in the run, spreading the message of “One Earth, One Future.”
The Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Jammu (Samba)-PDUNIPPD, New Delhi under DEPWD, Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MOSJE), organized a plantation drive within the premises of CRC Jammu. Dr Rohnika Sharma, Director, CRC Jammu (Samba) with all staff members of CRC Jammu participated in the drive by planting Guava tree saplings in the Centre’s office garden.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samba of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu celebrated “World Environment Day” at village Sargal of district Samba. Dr A S Reen, Director Agriculture Jammu inaugurated the programme by planting saplings of different plants in the village. A series of plantation drives were also conducted at the premises of the KVK, followed by mega plantation drives at Panchayats Samlah and Daboh.
Patnitop Development Authority, Department of Tourism, in collaboration with the Department of Wildlife Protection, and Government Higher Secondary School, Garhi, Udhampur, observed World Environment Day 2025 with a series of activities. The Day commenced with a cleanliness drive in and around Patnitop. Following this, an awareness walk along the circular road of Patnitop was held.
NHPC celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm at its Corporate Office, Regional Offices, Power Stations, Projects and Units. A plantation programme was organized at NHPC Residential Complex, Faridabad wherein R K Chaudhary, CMD, NHPC, R P Goyal, Director (Finance), Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects) and Suprakash Adhikari, Director (Technical) and other senior officers planted saplings of fruit bearing trees. During the celebrations, CMD, NHPC along with all Directors released the NHPC Sustainability Report and NHPC Booklet on Environmental policies.
MLA Jammu West, Arvind Gupta along with Pankaj Sharma, Vice Chairman, Jammu Development Authority, launched a plantation initiative titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” under the Amrut Mitra campaign at JDA Park, Muthi Camp, Jammu. They jointly planted the first sapling, symbolizing a pledge for a greener future.
Senior BJP leader Rekha Mahajan joined the nationwide green initiative ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ by planting an Amla (Indian Gooseberry) sapling on the occasion of World Environment Day in the presence of enthusiastic booth-level workers.
Institution of Engineers (India), J&K Centre, in collaboration with Directorate of School Education, Kashmir, celebrated World Environment Day with a vibrant and impactful series of activities. The day commenced with an awareness rally presided over by Shantmanu, Financial Commissioner/ Additional Chief Secretary, at Zabarwan Park, Srinagar. The rally was followed by a seminar.
World Environment Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the School of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SAS&T), Leh Campus, University of Ladakh. The event was graced by Prof D Namgyal, Dean, Agricultural Sciences, SAS&T-Stakna, Leh Campus, University of Ladakh, as the chief guest. A drawing competition was organized on the themes: ‘Beat Plastic’, ‘Climate Change’ and ‘Green Planet’.
Department of Environmental Science and ECO Club, in collaboration with NSS Units of Government SPMR College of Commerce, celebrated World Environment Day. The day started with a quiz competition wherein a large number of students and NSS volunteers participated and tested their awareness about environmental issues. It was followed by a plantation drive in the College.
K C College of Education celebrated World Environment Day with theme based activity. The Environmental Club and NSS unit of the College organized a plantation cum beautification drive in College premises. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr Sanjay Tickoo highlighted the importance of such activities and appreciated the efforts of the Club for organizing such environmental activities.
Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) Jammu celebrated World Environment Day with a vibrant plantation drive and an engaging awareness programme in collaboration with ESCS GREEN Private Limited. The celebration witnessed participation of Prof Sameru Sharma, Principal GCET, Sukriti Sharma, Registrar GCET, J N Sharma, Managing Director of ESCS GREEN and other dignitaries. A key highlight of the event was the plantation of around 40 species of trees across the GCET campus.
GGM Science College Jammu organized an Inter-Departmental Quiz Competition centered on the theme “Government Policies, Indian Economy, Official Statistics, NSO, and Environment.” Five teams participated in the intellectually engaging competition, demonstrating deep knowledge on vital policy and environmental matters. Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the College, presided over the event.
Government Deputy SP Aman Thakur Memorial Degree College, Kastigarh celebrated the Day with great enthusiasm and environmental commitment by organizing various events under the guidance and patronage of Prof Koshal Kumar Mangotra, principal of the college. A lecture on the hazards of single-use plastics was delivered by Dr Sumit Kotwal, HoD, Environmental Sciences.
GDC Neeli Nallah, Udhampur celebrated the day with a series of impactful events and activities aimed at raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainable practices among the students and the staff members. The activities were conducted under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Seema Arora, principal of the College. A plantation drive was organized within the college premises.
GDC Darhal organized a special event today to raise awareness about environmental conservation and sustainability. The event saw a great turnout of students, faculty members and local community members who gathered to mark this important day.

Eco club and NSS unit of GDC Marh organised a cleanliness and plantation drive in the college campus under the dynamic leadership of Prof Ramneek Kaur, principal of the college. Principal, in her address, stressed that this day is dedicated to educating and mobilizing individuals and communities on the importance of the environment, as the planet is facing unprecedented environmental challenges.
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Pharmacy observed the day with great enthusiasm and awareness-driven activities aimed at promoting environmental responsibility among students. Principal of the Institute, Gaurav Nanda addressed the gathering and emphasized the need for integrating environmental education into the curriculum.
Principal, Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) Vijaypur, Ranjit Singh Sambyal organized a plantation drive in and around the Institute to promote environmental awareness and responsibility among the trainees and public. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the staff, trainees and public who collectively planted a variety of plants, including ornamental, medicinal, herbal and fruit-bearing saplings.
NCC Unit of Dogra Degree College observed the day with great enthusiasm by organizing a cleanliness drive and plantation drive. The event aimed to spread awareness about the harmful effects of plastic pollution and promote environmentally sustainable practices among youth.
The cadets of 8th J&K Girls Battalion NCC of GCW Gandhinagar celebrated the day. A total of 51 cadets actively participated in a series of activities designed to raise awareness and inspire action toward environmental conservation. Dr Geetanjali Andotra, principal of the college joined the cadets in planting a Neem tree sapling, symbolizing her commitment to a greener tomorrow.
Government College of Education, Jammu celebrated the day, aimed at raising awareness about the pressing issue of plastic pollution and its impact on our environment. The event was organized by Professor Dr Shalini Sharma, HoD Environmental Science, and convener Nature Club along with other faculty members under the patronage of principal, GCOE, Jammu Professor Dr Jyoti Parihar.
On the eve world environment day, a plantation drive was organized at GDC Bani by the Department of Environmental science and NSS unit of the college in collaboration J&K Forest Department, Forest Range Bani. In this event, MLA Bani Dr Rameshwar Singh was the chief guest of the event and Prof (Dr) Manohar Lal, principal GDC Bani was the guest of honour.
Kawa College of Education, Patoli celebrated the day with a series of thoughtful and engaging student activities aimed at fostering environmental consciousness and creativity among youth. The celebrations, held at the Patoli campus witnessed enthusiastic participation from multiple students. The college organized two major events under the Environment Day banner.
Trikuta Group of Colleges celebrated the day and spread awareness to join the global movement, to put an end to plastic pollution. The management also encouraged everyone to plant more and more trees by gifting seed hampers made by recycling and reusing plastic waste, glass waste and paper waste. The event was organized by Dr Prabhakar Shukla, Assistant Professor, Department of Dravya Guna, JIAR.
Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing (RGCN) celebrated World Environment Day at College campus. The event was organized by NSS Unit in collaboration with Literary Committee. M S Katoch, Chairman RGCN encouraged the staff and students for organizing such events to benefit students and people.
On World Environment Day, a special event was organized at GDC Bishnah to raise awareness about environmental issues. The programme commenced with the screening of a documentary highlighting various environmental hazards and their impact on our planet. After this, Principal of the College emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and the role of youth in protecting earth.
Government Degree College (GDC) Sunderbani celebrated World Environment Day with a campus cleanliness drive and plantation of fruit-bearing trees. The event was led by Principal Prof. Vandana Verma and was organized by College’s Eco Club.
GDC Kathua marked World Environment Day with a unique and engaging activity aimed at increasing green cover and spreading environmental awareness. Under the patronage of Prof Seema Mir, Principal of the College, the event saw enthusiastic participation from students who planted a variety of saplings to enhance the greenery on the campus.
Department of Environmental Sciences in collaboration with Eco-Club of GDC R S Pura celebrated World Environment Day. A UT level online quiz was organized in which more than 150 students participated. A tree plantation drive was also organized in collaboration with Eco Club.
GDC Nagrota celebrated the Day with an engaging online event via Google Meet, focusing on this year theme ‘Putting an End to Plastic Pollution’. Through Google Meet video released by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) was shared with the students. Principal of the College Prof. Anjali Mahajan spoke about the importance of World Environment Day.
On World Environment Day, GDC Majalta organized a plantation drive under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Shalini Sharma, Principal of the College. The event was coordinated by Dr Dalip Kumar, Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme unit of the College.
The Health Department Poonch today observed the day with a strong message against plastic pollution and a call for sustainable living. The event was held under the guidance of Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, administrative secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, Jammu & Kashmir UT and under the supervision of Dr Abdul Hamid Zarger, Director Health Services, Jammu.
A plantation and cleanliness Drive was today organized by Tawi Welfare Society at Apnavan Sure Chak. Thirty five ornamental plants of different species were planted by the volunteers of Society at this occasion. Master Kavi Raj, president of TWS asked the volunteers present there to make the Earth polythene free.
The Bani Forest Range (Basohli Forest Division) today observed the day with great enthusiasm and community participation. The event was organized to raise awareness about environmental conservation and sustainability. The event witnessed the gracious presence of MLA Bani Dr Rameshwar Singh Thakur, Ex-MLA Bani, DDC Bani, SDPO Bani and SHO Bani.
The day was celebrated in Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited (CVPPL) with great fervour and gaiety. The celebration began with the plantation of saplings in the office premise by Ramesh Mukhiya, managing director, CVPPL. The managing director said, “We cannot continue to ignore the problem any longer and we must take action to reduce our reliance on plastic”.
District Urban Development Agency, Doda in collaboration with GDC Doda organised a tree plantation drive. This inspiring movement aims to promote afforestation and spread awareness about environmental preservation across the region
Department of Environmental Science GDC Nobra, celebrated the day in the college campus. Tsewang Lahmo, Assistant Professor, Environmental Science, GDC Nobra in her address emphasized on the importance of celebrating the world environment day by avoiding plastic use, particularly single use plastic, as microplastic permeate every corner of the planet.
NSS Unit of Sai Shyam College of Education Ghou-Manhasan, Jammu celebrated World Environment Day by organizing an awareness programme. The programme was presided over by Rajni Koul, Officiating Principal of the College and Director Sai Shyam Educational Society, Dr Usha Tickoo was chief guest. NSS volunteers spoke on environmental hazards caused by the use of plastics.
District Institute of Education and Training Leh celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm. The event was graced by the presence of former Professor of the University of Ladakh, Deskyong Namgyal who was chief guest. Highlight of the celebration was a drawing competition organized on the theme ‘Ending Plastic Pollution’.
On World Environment Day, 1JK Squadron NCC Air Wing Udhampur organized a tree plantation drive at Sant Ishwar Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Higher Secondary School, Nainsu, Udhampur. The programme began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by a soulful rendition of Saraswati Vandana. Principal Renu Sharma delivered welcome address. The event was officially inaugurated by the chief guest, Wing Commander Nittin Yadav.
On World Environment Day, students of Nav Adarsh Higher Secondary School, Kathua participated in an Inter-House event where they presented beautifully crafted models and delivered impactful presentations focused on environmental awareness.
World Environment Day was celebrated at Sanfort Pre-School and Day Care in Chabutra Bazaar Udhampur in collaboration with Indian National Trust for Art Culture and Heritage. School Principal Arya Paba along with School staff Pooja Thakur, Anjali Parihar and others participated in plantation of saplings in the School premises.
PM Shri Government High School Thasgam Drass in collaboration with Indian Army organized a series of awareness and environmental activities under the theme ‘Ending Plastic Pollution.’ As part of the awareness campaign, the Indian Army screened a short movie focused on the harmful effects of plastic pollution on ecosystems and human health. A poster making competition was also organised.
World Environment Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Latti Tehsil Panchayat. The occasion was marked by a plantation drive of Deodar saplings in Forest Compartment Number 6. The initiative was led by Kasturi Lal Gupta, Naib Tehsildar, Dr Kuldip Raj Sharma and Forest Guard, Pankaj Magotra.
A series of plantation drives were organized to celebrate World Environment Day by Nowshera Forest Division. The day began with plantation drive at Bharat Public Higher Secondary School Sunderbani, New Public Higher Secondary School Sunderbani (Sodra) and International Public Hr. Sec. School Bajabain in which ADC Sunderbani, Ramkesh Sharma and Range Forest Officer Sunderbani, Arif Mirza participated.
In an another event, a cleanliness drive was jointly organized with Municipal Committee Sunderbani in which locals, shopkeepers along with forest staff participated and cleaned plastic waste from the road leading to Sub District Hospital.
A plantation drive was organized in collaboration with 72 BN CRPF at Sodra in which Deputy Inspector General Himanshu Kumar, Deputy Commandant P C Nayke along with Range Forest Officer Sunderbani and others planted fruit trees of various species. All the events were conducted under the supervision of Sat Paul, Conservator of Forest West Circle Rajouri and under the guidance of Shweta Deonia, DCF Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera.
On World Environment Day, the Akhnoor Division of Indian Army organized an extensive afforestation drive along with water conservation awareness drive and encouraged the people towards eco-friendly practices by using electric vehicles, solar energy, minimizing pollution etc.
