SRINAGAR, June 13: An interactive workshop on Smart Policing was inaugurated at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur (SKPA) by Additional Director General of Police Training (ADGP), Navin Agarwal. The 3-day workshop has been designed to make police strict, sensitive, modern and trained.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Agarwal said that Smart Policing is aimed to enhance the capabilities of police forces to deliver efficiently at the grass root level. He said that the roadmap touches every area of policing to strengthen police public relations, sharpen training skills for efficient investigation and maintenance of law and order, besides attitudinal change in the forces.
ADGP said that the workshop was aimed to interact with the Superintendents of Police and Dy. Superintendents of Police, who are leaders of the force, and introduce them with the Smart Policing making them alert, accountable, responsive and reliable.
Mr. Agarwal emphasised upon the officers to re-orient themselves and meet the expectations of the people. He said that a massive overhaul in training syllabi is under way to enhance the capabilities of police in public delivery.
“New technologies are being introduced in course curriculum making the policemen tech savvy,” he added.
The workshop would inculcate a sense of public service among the personnel. Gender sensitivity, besides dealing with the vulnerable sections of the society is also need of the hour, said Mr. Agarwal.
