JAMMU, July 14: 20-day Translation Skill Internship Workshop concluded at Dogri Sanstha Bhawan Jammu, here today.
In the concluding function, Dr S P Saraswat, Principal, Padmashri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, was the chief guest.
The Translation Skill Internship Workshop covered many subjects related to development of translation skills of the participants that would be quite helpful in making their professional career or earn livelihood in future. These included News, Informative Literature, Journalism, Fiction, Sub Titling, Web Content, Advertisement, Prose and Poetry. About 36 students of Government Women College Parade and Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu participated in the workshop which had galaxy of resource persons like Prof Lalit Magotra, Prof Veena Gupta, Prof Shashi Pathania, Prof Archana Kesar, Dr Nirmal Vinod, Dr Bansi Lal Sharma, Dr Chanchal Bhasin, Dr Sandeep Dubey and Jagdeep Dubey.
Prof Lalit Magotra, President of Dogri Sanstha Jammu, while speaking on the occasion, said that this initiative under New Education Policy is a welcome step as such internship workshops if organized on regular basis will not only develop skills of participants but will also connect them with their mother tongue and cultural heritage. He appreciated the participants for their keen interest to learn the basics and hoped that their enthusiasm will not diminish after the conclusion of this workshop but will inspire them to continue practicing so as to get benefitted from such initiatives at right time thus coming up to expectations of Government aimed at.
Dr S P Saraswat said that skill development workshops are necessary as these initiatives give confidence to students to generate income and make future of their own choice as many options are available backed with their skills. He expected that collaboration with Dogri Sanstha will become a regular feature for such projects of utmost importance.
In the concluding function, the participants recited Dogri poems written by established poets of the region. They were given participation certificates, Dogri books and a brief biography of Padma Sachdev. The concluding function was anchored by Pawan Verma and Prof Shashi Pathania extended vote of thanks.
