JAMMU, Jan 12: A one-day workshop aimed at enhancing police investigations through digital tools was held today at the Conference Hall of DPL Jammu today.
Organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the workshop brought together over 250 police officers from the Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, including Investigating Officers, CCTNS operators, SDPOs, SHOs, and Tamilies.
As per a statement, the training session focused on three key digital tools of e-Sakshya, e-Summons, and MedLEaPR, which are designed to improve efficiency, transparency, and accuracy in police investigations under the new criminal laws.
These tools are part of the Government’s initiative to modernize the police force and integrate technology into everyday policing.
The e-Sakshya tool, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), helps police officers manage crime scene evidence, including videography and photography, while ensuring secure storage and immediate access to evidence for courts.
e-Summons under the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), facilitates the swift transmission of court summons electronically, improving communication and accountability and MedLEaPR is a web-based system for securely managing Medico-Legal Reports (MLRs) and Post-Mortem Reports (PMRs).
The workshop was inaugurated by ADGP Jammu Zone Anand Jain in the presence of IGP Crime Sunil Gupta, DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar Sharma, and SSP Jammu Joginder Singh.
Speaking at the event, the ADGP Jammu Anand Jain emphasized the importance of these digital tools in ensuring transparency and timely justice, highlighting that continuous training is crucial for adapting to technological advancements in law enforcement.
IGP Crime Sunil Gupta stressed the need for the police force to fully embrace digital technologies to speed up investigations and improve transparency.
DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar Sharma noted that these apps would greatly enhance transparency in police investigations.
At the conclusion of the workshop, mementoes were presented to the instructors as a gesture of appreciation for their contribution.
