JAMMU, Sept 26: In its continuing efforts to ensure compliances by all the Healthcare facilities in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, a sensitizing workshop was held here today by Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Committee.
The participants from Govt as well as private Healthcare facilities participated in this interactive workshop. The participants were provided resource material. The welcome and keynote address by Member Secretary Ghansham Singh and Neelu Sharma Principal Scientific Officer, JKPCC, respectively, was followed by presentations. The guest speakers included experts from Central Pollution Control Board Delhi, Runa Orion Scientist E and Dr Beena Jad, Assistant Professor, Microbiology certified Infection Control Professional Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence and Associated Hospital (SMVDNSH).
Besides this, in house presentation on legal framework was made by Principal Scientific Officer JKPCC and procedure for online applications and mechanism by Dr Anju Sida, Incharge BMWM Cell. Treatment and Disposal being followed by the Common Biomedical Waste Treatment Facility (CBWTF), Samba was also presented by its representative.
Chairman JKPCC, Vasu Yadav, in his address highlighted the mandatory compliances to be done by the healthcare facilities, as per the BMW Management Rules, 2016 and to seek necessary consent to establish / operate under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and the Environment Protection Act, 1986.
