JAMMU, Dec 8: The University of Jammu inaugurated a one-week workshop titled “SPSS UNPLUGGED: AI Perspective in Data Analytics”, organized by the College Development Council in collaboration with the Department of Statistics under RUSA 2.0.
Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Dean of Research Studies, University of Jammu, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In her keynote address, she highlighted the transformative role of data analytics and artificial intelligence in reshaping the contours of higher education. She noted that these emerging tools are not merely technical aids but powerful enablers of evidence-based decision making, innovative pedagogy, and interdisciplinary research, all of which resonate strongly with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Prof Rohmetra further underscored that in this evolving academic landscape, the qualities of a good teacher extend beyond subject expertise. She emphasized the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, and the ability to integrate technology into teaching practices. A good teacher, she remarked, must cultivate critical thinking, foster creativity, and nurture ethical values among students, while remaining sensitive to inclusivity and diverse learner needs. By combining traditional wisdom with modern analytical approaches, educators can prepare students to thrive in a knowledge-driven society, she added.
