JAMMU, Oct 7: One day workshop on “Constructivism and lesson planning through constructivist approach” was organized today by PG Department of Education, University of Jammu, in the seminar hall of the Department of Lifelong Learning.
Principals, Assistant Professors, Lecturers and Senior Lecturers of different colleges of Education, research scholars, faculty members of the Department of Education namely Dr SK Panda, Dr Kajal Manhas, Meenakshi Choudhary and Dr Niharika Panda of Department of Education, JU, participated in the programme.
The workshop started with welcome address by Prof (Dr) Renu Nanda, Head of Department. Speaking on the theme, she highlighted its relevance for teacher educators focusing on the constructivist approach.
Prof Mubarak Singh spoke regarding constructivist approach and lesson planning in which he stressed upon 5E’s (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate). The format of lesson plan regarding constructivist approach was presented to participants by Prof Rajiv Rattan.
Groups were formed for different teaching subjects. The leaders of the groups— Dr Usha Tickoo, Mukta Naggar, Dr Saif- ullah- Khan, Rajeev Bhagat, Preeti Sharma and Jyoti Sharma presented lesson plans in Teaching of English, Teaching of Social Science, Teaching of Biological Science, Teaching of Mathematics and Teaching of Hindi, respectively.
Presentation of lessons was followed by discussion, feedback and moderation with round up. The vote of thanks was presented by Ana Bali, scholar of the Department.
