Working to bring back Rajan as early as possible: Govt

NEW DELHI: Ministries of External Affairs and Home are working together to bring back arrested underworld don Chhota Rajan from Indonesia “as early as possible”.

“We are in touch with the Ministry of Home Affairs. Both Ministry of External Affairs and Home Affairs are working together to ensure that we bring him back to India as early as possible,” Spokesperson in External Affairs Affairs Vikas Swarup said.

Rajan was arrested after arriving at Bali’s airport from Sydney, based on a red notice from Interpol and following a tip from Australian authorities in Canberra.

Born in Mumbai, Rajan is wanted for multiple charges including murder and possession and use of illegal firearms.

In 2000, there was an attempt on his life when Dawood Ibrahim’s men tracked him down to a hotel in Bangkok but he managed to escape through the hotel’s roof. (PTI)
