RAMBAN, Oct 7: The workers of Gammon Engineers and Contractors Private Limited who had worked at different sites on Jammu-Srinagar Highway from Dalwass to Ramban are reportedly moving from pillar to post for getting their retrenchment dues from the contractor company engaged by NH1A.
The workers headed by Budi Singh, Rikhi Singh and Asif Tak have made various representations to district administration in this regard. They alleged that that the workers are only getting assurances after their retrenchment from the company.
The contractor company has sublet execution work to a Jammu based contractor company Chowdhary Power Project (CPP) in the month of August 2019. The workers alleged that they were served notices by the management of Gammon Engineers and Contractors Private Limited on 24-08-2019 that the company has decided to reduce the manpower and the services of workers are not required further. The workers were asked that all the pending dues will be cleared by site administration.
The workers alleged that they had not been paid Compulsory Provident Fund (CPF), bonus and encashment allowance.
“We are fed up with the assurances given by the management of the company and have lost the faith as they are taking advantage of poverty and ignorance”, they stated.
They complain that they had approached number of times to the management of the company for paying their ending dues with all benefits till retrenchment, but unfortunately the company had not paid any heed to the requests of the retrenched workers and are adopting delay delaying tactics.
They requested to the officers of State including National Highway Authority of India to intervene for releasing the pending dues with all benefits to the workers as they have been rendered jobless without any financial assistance from the company.
