KATHUA, Mar 1: A worker died after getting trapped in a thread machine while working at a textile unit here today.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Vino Kumar, a resident of Uttarakhand.
He was critically injured after getting trapped in a thread machine at Filament Pvt Ltd and died on the spot, they said.
After completing legal formalities, the body was handed over to his family members.
The brother of the deceased, Devinder Singh, alleged that the incident occurred due to negligence on the part of the factory management.
He claimed that proper safety measures were not adopted and no safety kit was provided to the worker.
The family has demanded compensation of Rs 20 lakh, stating that Vino Kumar was the sole breadwinner of the family.
Police have registered a case and started investigation into the matter.
